Further to my post about the HCG levels I thought I would see if anyone else has had the same problem as me with a good outcome.
I have a tilted uterus and when we did the u/s there was only the sac, we did not do the v-u/s. My HCG levels are over 41K so that is good. I also have all pregnancy symptoms and quite strong...m/s, very sore boobs, acne and very tired. I am also showing a little so I thought everything was going well. I have not had any m/c symptoms.
Anyone else have their baby hide for the u/s at the 9 week mark?
Re: Anyone see an empty sac at 9 weeks? or baby hiding for u/s?
I am sure all is well if your HCG is on track..I dont have any idea about tilted uterus or anything but just stopping by to wish you luck! Why didnt they try a vaginal u/s?

Baby #4- coming in May
My doctor said that the blood test performed yesterday with the 41K+ level was a great sign. She did not perform nor order the u/s, it was a friend of mine who is the tech. Since we are friends we chose not to do the v-u/s cause that may be wierd. My friend the tech seemed really optimistic and would have said otherwise if she was concerned. She said perhaps I was a little earlier along and that it was possible that the baby is hiding on the other side of the wall. I never went there with a full bladder. She had me go to the doctor to get my HCG level tested ASAP and they said they are not concerned and to wait until my appt on Monday.
I was hoping to hear from others that this sometimes happens...thanks for listening.
So, not to be rude...is your friend experienced? I heard it may be harder to see if you indeed have a tilted uterus.
Have your DR do your US and dont worry, maybe you can do the vag US next time-they do produce better pictures.

~ Miscarry at 8 weeks with D&C in May 2011 (low progesterone).
~ Had a healthy baby girl in June 2012 via C-Section (on prometrium to sustain).
~ Surprise pregnancy at age 40! Baby boy due April 26, 2021 (took prometrium to sustain once pregnancy was confirmed, 3rd C-Section planned).
Not to sound overly crass, but there's usually a reason that a doctor orders an u/s, so that you're going to a medical professional (even a third party u/s tech) who can conduct the necessary tests to see the baby. Then if something is amiss, the doc can intervene to dispel worry.
You're probably okay, just try to hold out until Monday.
My beta was 48,000 and I had a blighted ovum. I even waited for 4 more horrible days of retractable nausea to confirm what we already knew (an empty sac).
For what it's worth, you should see something with a transabdominal u/s by a beta of 6500.
This is why your friend should not scan you. Then you both feel like crap when something is wrong or you try to convince yourselves that it is ok when it may not be.
Best of luck.
By betas at 6 weeks were 1200 and they saw a sac but no empryo yet. At 7 weeks they saw a baby and my betas were almost 40000. I was charting and I knew exactly when I had ovulated. So I was sure of myd ates.
How do you know you're actually 9 weeks? Its possible that you are earlier than you think?
At my vag u/s last week (8w6d) the Dr. searched for what seemed like forever and all we saw was a big empty black blob. Right when I started to freak out he angled the wand a different way and we saw everything perfectly!
He said that my uterus was angled back and that it made it difficult to see, and this was vaginally! He commented that it was a good thing we hadn't even tried to do the u/s regularly because it would have caused us a lot of needless stress and worry.
There is still hope for a good outcome, however you may want to avoid having your friend give you any more u/s... It seemed like this one caused much more worry and stress than it was worth, and if they are not able to be professional enough to set aside their unease of performing the correct u/s for the situation, then I wouldn't want them working on me at all!
