Parker will start attending daycare very soon...within the next month or two. The center requires that they bring a nap mat that is waterproof and so far the only ones I have found don't look too comfortable and are very plain. Are they all like this? TIA.
Re: Cute & waterproof nap mats-do they exist?!
Hmm, I didn't see any of the mats covered with blankets when I toured the daycare. The kids just covered up with them.
maybe you saw sleeping bags? Is that more of what you are looking for?
DS day care is the blue and red exercise mats. And all the parents bring in a fitted crib sheet. They sleep on that. Then bring in blankets or special items as necessary.
maybe call the daycare, they may be able to recommend a place to buy them.
I teach Pre-K and we have a "rest time." I will say there are only two kinds of mats I've seen.
The red and blue are the thin kind and the green and blue are the thicker, more cushy kind.
Depending on when he starts, Walmart may have both out in the school supply area soon. Actually, they start putting out school supplies after July 4th
This is where I get the ones for my students. I am sure they're cheaper at walmart, but this shows the thickness variations.

My daycare mostly uses the folding mats, I bought mine at a teacher supply place because I couldn't find them anywhere else in February when I needed it. It stays at school and I bring in a crib sheet every week for it.
But a few moms do bring in the other kind of nap mats - the cute kind that roll up. I didn't go this route because a) it's a lot more to haul to school each week; b) you have to wash it every week which is a pain; c) many do not last with all that washing; d) they're expensive; and e) your kid is basically laying on a quilt on the floor, I'd rather have some padding to lay on!
Anyway, I did see these which are custom covers for the fold up mats: https://www.napmat.com/basiccovers.html
Plus, since standard crib sheets fit the mats, you can also buy toddler bedding - which would have Thomas, Diego, etc.
But if you want the roll-up quilt kind of napmat, I'm sure you could find someone on etsy to make one for you. You just need to find someone who makes changing pads, or cloth diapers (or anything waterproof) because they're the ones most likely to have PUL on hand, which would be the waterproof fabric to use.
THANKS!!!!!!
