There is a guy on there who was attacked by a pitbull and wants his medical bills paid by the owner (fair enough), but Judge Judy is saying NO ONE should have pitbulls because they have powerful jaws and if they bite they lock on. The owner brought up that the dog had never bitten anyone and that other dogs such as labs can also hurt people and she said they aren't as dangerous.
Then, the owners girlfriend said she had a pitbull puppy and Judge Judy told her she shouldn't have children when she has the pitbull because it's so dangerous.
I can't stand people who are against a whole breed.
Maybe she'd change her thoughts if she saw this.
Re: Judge Judy is so stupid + PIP
bahahahaha! So cute!
Ya, they tend to get a bad rap, but for the most part I think it is all in how the dogs are raised.
LOL that is our American bulldog to the "T". He loves showing off his tricks. Our mail guy actually said he is more afraid of the jack russell next door than our 100+lb monster.
We have a boxer (in siggy) and we actually had a hard time finding an apt in college because boxers look like pitbulls and pitbulls are mean. It made me so mad and made sure to let my friends know not to rent from those complexes.
Everytime I hear someone say that pitbulls are "the most dangerous dogs" EVER, my head explodes. Really people? Your precious little FiFi (no offense to anyone that has a FiFi) could be trained to be a killer.
My moms 6 pound dog has drawn blood plenty of times (she seems to only do it to my dad and I) and her 90 pound lab sleeps on her lap when she's watching TV.
I'm probably going to get burned for this, but DH and I have discussed and we will not leave our kids around a pit or pit mix unless we really know the people and the dog. Most of the people around my area that own a pit or pit mix do not pay enough attention to them, and they are naturally more aggressive than other breeds (but so are papillons! diffrent breeds have diffrent traits and temperments) so if they do not get enough attention they are more prone to attack if provoked, and little kids will sometimes provoke an animal.
But in our defense we've discussed this about rott's and other aggressive breeds. We do have friends with pit mixes that are great dogs and we trust them. Mostly it's the area we live in and the age group of our friends, pitt's are popular but just to "have" and not really pay attention too
I love love love that picture!
I agree that SOME people shouldn't have pitbulls, if they don't know how to control them. With the breeds that have a tendency toward aggression, I think the owners need to really have some experience. I wouldn't take one on, but that's because I'm not confident enough to know what to do.
I agree with you except I won't let Henry go near ANY breed of dog if we don't know them or their owner. I think that's a geat policy when you have children. Any dog can attack when provoked and you are right, kids do sometimes provoke dogs.
First off, I love pitbulls so much! Some of the best dogs that I've known/owned have been pits. Furthermore, I've seen toddlers pull on their tails, ears and lips, chase them around, and use them as a trampoline (which is a no no but still) and seen these pit bulls not react whatsoever. They are amazing dogs if you raise them correctly and have the time and energy to put into them... but this is mostly true wtih any dog.
FWIW, That's not a pit bull in the picture, but a bull terrier, like the Target dog.
Darnit....well they won't let bull terriers go to doggie daycare either so apparently they are discriminated against as well.
My childhood dog was a german shepard/husky mix and she was the sweetest thing ever. I was so sad when we had to have her put down. Once we were playing outside and we were both running around and we collided and I went flying and when I landed I got the wind knocked out of me and started bawling, and she was SO concerned. You could just tell she was so sorry, she came over and started licking me. I miss that dog. As soon as DH get a house with a backyard (we live in a condo now) we're getting a german shepard. I can't wait!
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!
German Shepards have a far higher number of bites/attacks and that was because they were super popular for a while.
Those poor dogs get a bad rep because so many unqualified "pet parents" own them. Poor things.
I had a student two years ago do an entire senior project on pitbulls getting a bad rap.
Check out badrap.org
It is a great organization.
Love that pic, I saw it on college humor. Bull terriers are the sweetest dogs, I want one so bad.
My parents have three dogs, 2 being american pit bull terriers. The one just cuddles on the couch all day, or in my dad's lap. The other is such a sweetheart and will lick your face right off.
It's sad that people discriminate against a whole breed just because of a few incidents they hear about.

My 14 year old boy growls like the old man he is if a kid sneaks up on him. I watch him like a hawk. Does he look like a killer? Not so much but with dogs and kids you have to watch them constantly.
