My DH cannot wait to take DS in my parents swimming pool & get some cute summer pictures. Is there any concern about exposing them to the chlorine in the pool water? Anything we should know about? Or any age restrictions?
I asked at our last appointment. She said it was fine but to just make sure you give them a bath when you are all done swimming to get all the chlorine off.
At DD's 4-month appointment, my pedi said swimming was fine (he didn't restrict where she could swim). His main concern was watching that she didn't get cold in the water and that she wasn't exposed in the sun for too long b/c at her age he didn't want me using sunscreen unless absolutely necessary.
DS had his 1 mth visit last week and the pedi said it was ok to take him swimming as long as one of us is holding him at all times. He cautioned us about the fact that he can't hold his head up on his own and leaving him unattended near water but that was all.
Ellie is 3 months and we've already had her in the pool. Our doc said it's fine (along with sunblock). I just make sure I give her a bath that night, which is usually part of our nighttime routine anyway.
Re: Anyone ask their pedi about swimming pools?
DS has been swimming since he was about 4.5 months. He LOVES it. No concerns, we just make sure we bathe him soon after we are done.
