My DD is starting to walk and I only have two pairs of shoes but she walks better barefoot. We are starting to take her outside more and I want to know what type of shoe should I get that wont get in the way of her learning to walk. Any advice.
Lili has a pair of RileyRoos. They have a flex sole that imitate barefoot walking, which is what you want they are first learning how to walk (being barefoot that is, but obviously they can't be all of the time). I bought them from https://www.tinysoles.com.
I worked in a childrens shoe store for about 11 years or so, and if you can keep her barefoot, then do that-it's what pediatricians recommend. when you do in fact need a "shoe" i would wear something like pediped or robeez-they're not really "shoes", but give a little more protections on your little ones foot. if you want an actual shoe, then look for something that is as close to barefoot as possible-ie, a super flexible sole. they no longer have to be high tops like they once recommended, so no need to worry about that. also look for a natural material such as leather so that your babies foot will breathe. as far as a brand, I'd go with stride rite or there are many other eurpean brands that are great. but also remember that babies feet are typically on the wide side, and baby shoes usually come in widths from medium, often to triple wide, so it would be best to at least bring her in somewhere to get her foot measured first (even if you don't buy your shoes there) and usually give about a thumbs width from the end of her biggest toe, to the end of the shoe (not the end of the sole) and that will give you anywhere from a month to 3 months for those shoes. hope that helps!
i bought a couple of pairs of cheapies at target, but they kept coming off and he would drag his feet. i finally broke down and ordered a pair of pedipeds, and they are totally worth it.

My mom went a bit crazy with the baby shoe-shopping, so we've tried them all. My opinions:
Stride Rites are nice quality and designed well, but the styles aren't as cute (just personal preference). Robeez are highly recommended but I really don't like the look of them, and they're harder to pull on to wide baby feet.
Rileyroos are nice because of the treads (and really cute), but seem to run a teeny bit narrower than other brands... she just outgrew her 3-6s for that reason. Pedipeds are adorable, and the width fit DD perfectly, but she just outgrew 0-6 and the 6-12s are still wayyyyy too big.
See Kai Run "Smaller" are a nice compromise... suede soles but with a couple treads too. They also tend to run wide and the leather is super-soft. We just ordered a couple pairs for $16.99 on Piperlime (half-price!) in size 6-9, and she still has plenty of room to grow.
