DD isn't yet eating w/ a spoon but she does try. We've been letting her hold and/or play with her spoon since she's been in the highchair she's just now 'understanding' that it's used for food. If we put the peice of food on the spoon (that she is holding) she can get it in her mouth but that's about it.
My DS hasn't quite figured out that the spoon isn't a toy. When he's pretty much done eating he tries to grab the spoon - I let him, thinking maybe he'll put it in his mouth...he does, but it's the wrong end! I think we've got a while. I guess once he's closer to a year I'll guide his hand with some of his favorite food (spaghetti sauce!) on it to encourage him.
