Indiana Babies

2 month old & sleeping

I'm curious, how many hours did your babies sleep at 2 months old?  Babycenter says 15 hours .

Andrew isn't getting that (he's a champ at night but is sucking it up during the day and gets fussy)...on a really good day he'll get 14...

Just cuious. I know every baby is different but A does seem like he needs 15 but we're working on it!

Re: 2 month old & sleeping

  • I never kept track...

    I suck  ;)

  • Loading the player...
  • haha I just started!  when the nanny started we were losing track of how long he'd been up and he was getting to be a bear ;) lol
  • I'd say he probably got around 15-16 hours, but I honestly don't know for sure.
  • lately he's only been napping for like 45 min most of the time during the day :( I think maybe something is waking him up prematurely! like reflux or his tummy or something!
  • Seems like Haley would sleep about 10 hours straight though the night and take two 2-hour naps and 1 shorter nap during the day.  All in all, I'd say she got pretty close to 15 or 16 hours of sleep a day.

BTW - I saw your update below and am sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with A's eating habits and bm's and all.  It sounds terribly frustrating and upsetting as his mom.  I can't imagine how much stress you're under.  I just really wanted you to knwo that I'm thinking of you and hoping that you can get things under control here soon.

  • sometimes Eli naps for 30 minutes, sometimes 2.5 hrs...it just varies

how long does he go between naps?

  • Thanks Melissa :) I appreciate it!

That's really similar to what Andrew does (9 hrs at night, 3 naps during the day) but his naps don't seem to be long enough and he has trouble going back to sleep, plus he spends a lot of time eating. Hmpfh.

  • just recently (in the past 2 weeks) Joceyln started sleeping longer at night and les frequently during the day. Now I'd say she goes 8 hrs at night, wakes up and take a bottle then sleeps for 2-3 more hours and maybe 5 hours worth of naps during the day, for a total of around 15 hrs. I do think she is trying to get into a 2-nap rhythm instead of her usual sleep-between-every-meal pattern. once she starts in her regular daycare I think (hope!) she will really get into a routine.

  • I could set a clock to my kid when he was a baby.

bedtime 10:00 pm - 6:00 am (sometimes later)
bottle and then back to sleep 6:30 am - 9:00 am
feed and play and feed again nap at noon - 2:00 or 2:30
feed and play and feed again nap from 5:00ish - 7:00 or 7:30
feed, play, bath, feed bed at 10:00.

    So that's what -- around 14 or 15 hours

I think if A is getting 14 hours a day, he's doing okay.

  • 12 hours at night, 4-5 hours during the day (2-2 hour naps, 1-45 minute nap)

He was usually on the high end for sleep and still is at times.

  • We try not to let him go more than 2 hours awake time...if he's not feeling well it can end up being as long as 3 because we can't get him to sleep!
  • A lot.  I'd say he was getting at least 15 hours, if not more than that, at 2 months.  Ben slept a lot until just recently, really.
  • jake rarely if ever got more than 13 hours of sleep.  Usually more like 11-12.  My ped said it was on the low end of normal.  And even Jake didn't need 13 hours, I did!
