That was a piece.of.cake.
So, I didn't sleep much last night. Not due to pain, but just b/c I had a "feeling." I watched Pearl Harbor (twice) and then tried to go to sleep. It was around that time that I started feeling what I thought were contractions coming on less than 2 minutes apart. I went upstairs to wake my mom, only b/c misery loves company. After about 20 minutes, I decided to call medlink. Dr. Collins (on call) agreed that I should come in, simply b/c this is a vbac and they would rather monitor me here.
I called our ride (remember, Jon can't drive) [I'm looking at YOU, ndk] and no answer. After trying a few more times, we decided that Jon would stay with Jack and my mom would drive me in. I was 5 cm upon arrival w/ contractions practically on top of each other.
I called carlinlp (several times- a few of which were hang ups b/c i was holding my iphone during contractions and didn't know i had dialed!) to let her know we were checked in and she was able to run by and grab Jon as my mom was heading back to the house. At this point, I'm by myself, they check me and I'm 8 cm (literally only about 15 minutes had passed). I was SO scared that Tommy would enter the world with just me.
So, I was able to get an epidural, but just barely (the dr. that I met with on Monday was really firm about me at least having an epi in place due to the possibility of an emergency c/s- I'll talk about that on another day). Epi went in, we waiting maybe 45 min-1 hour and then they checked again. Tommy was ready to come out (in fact, he was already working on it on his own).
I pushed a couple times w/ the nurses and then Dr. Collins came in. Two or three sets of pushes later and baby Tommy was here. It was SUCH a different experience than Jack's birth.
He's gorgeous. He looks like his daddy and he has the most pitiful cry I have ever heard.
That's all for now. We're just waiting for Jack to come over and meet him- then let the drama begin!
Thanks for all your dust. With a labor that lasted (from start to finish) about 3 1/2 hours, I think it worked!

LOL at the pitiful cry! Hee hee. Wow your labor story sounded so easy. I wish they all sounded that way. But then again if that were the case I think people would be having babies left and right. Congrats on your new arrival.
Yay! Congrats again! MC= rock star
and Wow, i think that is the record time for posting a birth story after the birth!
Yea! That's awesome, I'm glad it was so easy for you. Birthing the second time around was a piece of cake for me too, I was laughing because it was too easy
Welcome little Tommy!
I didn't program your number into my phone. It was in my gmail (which I couldn't access from my phone!!! Believe me, I was trying.
It all worked out, though.

You on the other hand are a total Super Star and I can't wait to meet him. What an awesome birth experience! And you got to have your VBAC after all. Wow! So so happy for the U family!
~NDK~
Congrats!
For the record, I had my phone by my bed too. And I even slept in shorts and a tank top night in case you called. I just had a "feeling" last night too, and apparently it was right! We are so excited for you and Jon, and so happy that you were able to have an easy VBAC! Although for the record, Mike says that he really didn't NEED to know that a baby came out of your hoo-ha.
He so doesn't get the concept of "keeping it real".
Can't wait to see photos of Tommy!!! Let us know if you need anything at all!
