We started Ferber last night. DD has been cosleeping since day 1 and I usually nurse her to sleep. Our immediate goal is to transition her to the crib and to be able to put her down awake. She was still nursing a lot at night, so our secondary goal is to cut out her night feedings. Since she was nursing so much, we are going to gradually cut out the night feedings over the week to 10 days by gradually increasing the time between feedings.
Last night went pretty well. We put her down at 8:15. She was out at 8:30 after a 3-minute and a 5-minute check. She woke up at 1:15 to nurse. I put her down at 1:45 awake. Just as I was doing into do her 3-minnute check, she fell asleep. She woke up at 5:15 to eat again and went back down around 6:00 with no crying. All-in-all, it went much better than expected. I have my fingers crossed tonight will go even better.
