3rd Trimester

What will you miss most about life before baby?

As excited and blessed as I feel, I know I'll miss some aspects of my old life.  My main two: sleep and independence.  Granted, it is worth giving up, but again, I'll miss it.

  • Being spontaneous, Everything seems to need to be mocuh more calculated with a child. I'll take many more precautions for my little one then I would for me or DH.

  • The ability to just pick up and go.  Whether it just be out to dinner or to visit a friend or a road trip.  It will be worth giving up though!
  • ive gotten so used to having 2 kids and 2 arms... im going to miss being able to hold all of my babies at once.
  • I will definitely miss having my DH all to myself.

this. We are total impulse buyers, anything from cars to vacations to just shopping...that has cooled down a lot though!

  • I don't know yet. Can't really imagine life with the baby... but our trips to Europe (home) won't be as frequent in the beginning and I will definitely miss that.

  • I will miss it being just me and DH. And just getting up and deciding last minute to go somewhere or going into town at 10 or 11:00 at night..it will be different and I will miss it but it will ALL be worth it. We are soo excited and just can't wait!

  • It's hard to remember what it was like. lol It would be nice to be able to go to the movies whenever we want. It really hasn't been that bad. DH and I are both homebodies so we don't go out much. I wish I had more time to read but I do read quite a bit.

This! I'm hoping to eventually add LO to this ritual. We really value our lazy Sunday mornings in this house.

Definitely this. And sleep. And the whole being-able-to-do-what-I-want-when-I-want thing.

You're right though, having a child brings on a new level of fun and happiness that I'm ready to experience.

  • I miss being able to lay around and do nothing on the weekends.

  • Sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Being able to do what we want when we want. Its going to be different having to plan everything. Sleep will be missed but I will get over that. I hardly get good sleep lately anyways. I am looking forward to my new life. I am ready to give up everything for my child.

  • I honestly can't say yet. There are things that I think I will miss, but until I'm actually in the situation, I can't be sure. The two things that as of now, I think I'll miss are sleeping in & impulse buying. Maybe once LO arrives though, I won't feel that way. I suppose I should know in about 9 weeks...

This!  Although, both sets of grandparents are already begging us to plan vacations so they can keep the baby.

ETA: DH is already planning vacations to take the baby on.  He can't wait to take her to Disney and lots of animal/nature related stuff.

I think with one LO, you can still do this for the most part. DD is just like my little companion all the time. I feel like its going to be much harder with 2, though.

  • Sunday mornings. They usually consist of either eating cereal, drinking coffee, and reading the newspaper before church, or if we opt out of church we pretty much sleep in and then make fancy breakfast and sit around drinking coffee and reading the paper until noon.

I know now that trying to get the baby and ourselves ready for church will mean a much bigger time commitment!

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • Sleeping in.

I love, love, love to sleep until noon on the weekends.  I don't think I'll be able to do that for a very, very long time!  (Maybe ever, since by the time I have a chance I may be too old to sleep late anymore -- my mom can't sleep past 9!)

  • Only being responsible for myself.  If I want to sit and watch tv all night, that's just fine right now.  Later, not so much.

    This exactly!

  • sleep

I think i'll really crave going out by myself and just being "me" - even if its just to the store or whatever. Even now I get so tired of being so slow and everyone commenting on my belly. I think it will be important for me to go out and do things every now and then w/o anyone else so that I don't feel like all eyes are on me/us and I can just get stuff done.

  • Traveling as much as we used to...I loved taking romantic vacations with just DH.
  • Well, I've already lost the ability to sleep properly so I can't say I'll miss that anymore. That was the thing I really thought I'd miss - and I was right ;)?

Probably just that DH and I will no longer be able to just randomly go to a movie, or a fancy dinner, or the theatre. From now on (well, once he arrives) we'll have to have a babysitter for all those things until he's a bit older.

Just being spontaneous about things. We can't just one weekend decide we want to drive up to Detroit or go to the movies whenever we get the urge.
