britax roundabout or marathon??

I know this has been asked a million times, I just haven't payed attention.

Which would you get?  Money is a factor...so we're leaning toward roundabout.  I don't like that it only lasts to 40 lbs though.

Any thoughts??

  • I have a Marathon and really like it, I got a really good deal on it, or else I would have gone for the Roundabout.

  • We have the Marathon and really like it, but we received it as a gift.  If money were an option, I wouldn't hesitate to get the Roundabout...  After 40 lbs they can go in a booster, so the weight limit is not that big of a deal.  (Although, height may be?...)  Also, our DD is a teeny thing so I wouldn't have to worry about her out-growing it before she's ready for the booster.

Also, you may want to consider how well it fits in your car.  The Marathon is huge, but luckily we have a really roomy backseat.

  • We have the roundabout and love it.  Our DS is small so it will probably be a while before he reaches 40 lbs.   We went to the store and put DS in about 10 different ones and saw how he fit in them and how comfortable he seemed.  We noticed there wasn;t much difference between the two with our DS and fit/comfort.

We got the roundabout.  You will hear people tell you they prefer the 65lb limit over the 40lb limit but I have yet to be convinced this is going to be an issue for us.  I really think that he is going to grow out of the car seat height wise and be ready for a booster by the time he is 40lbs. but I could be wrong.  We got a good deal on amazon.com, you should check it out for any specials they may have.
  • we have the roundabout...and love it, but now that we're approaching the weight limit - i wish we would have gone with the marathon...GL!
  • thanks y'all!

  • We love our Roundabout.  I wasn't concerned about the difference in the weight limits because I have a skinny kid.  I didn't weigh 40lbs until Kindergarten.

  • There is a new Roundabout out that goes to 50lbs. It is called the Roundabout 50. We will get that one next time. Plus, it offers the same height limit as the Marathon.

  • We are happy w/ the Marathon. We wanted something we could use for a while. We got it for a great $ over the Thanksgiving sale from Baby Universe.com

  • We have one of each and I really like both, but the Marathon is alot bigger than the Roundabout, imo.

I got that Ashley Floral Marathon from www.albeebaby.com and it was the same price as the Roundabout. If you can get that, definitely do it (if it's still on sale).  Mine was only a few weeks old when I got it (manuf. date of 5/8/09).
