Re: Interesting article: Canadian docs to stop automatic C-sections for breech babies

  • God, I love Canada.  This is awesome news....  Yes

  • America?s looking better and better to me.  I had an emergency c-section do to this 6-years-ago. If I were to go vaginally it would have not turned out positive being her size and her breech position.

Did you actually read the article?  There are other many things they take into consideration, and still do c-sections, especially emergency.  They are just giving certain moms, depending on some factors, a chance to at least try vaginally.

You should really read the article.  They are not recommending that all breech births be done vaginally, only if it's favorable.

  • Yes, thanks ladies I did read the article fully.

Interesting. It  stills seems like women will have quite the fight on their hands if they do choose a vaginal birth though. Plus, it seems as if a lot of doctors aren't trained in a breech delivery due to the previous study which would make me a little nervous. I'm glad women get the choice though and it becomes more common practice to at least attempt a vaginal delivery with a breech baby that meets the requirements for a safe delivery.

  • My SIL delivered her second child who was breech vaginally. They had like 5 doctors, a few nurses and a few students in the room too.

She was fine, and her baby was fine, her (the baby) hips were out of joint and had to wear a brace for a while, but she's a happy 2 year old now who runs with the best of them.

(I live in Northern Alberta and so does she)

Oh the ignorant one has spoken. Do you feel better now? It?s hard to believe this woman behind her words is almost 40-years of age and yet you still act if you?re in HS.

Breath? let it go and everything will be fine?

I read something similar recently.  There's something to be said for inertia, but hopefully with the encouragement of the practice's governing bodies, more and more will retrain and the new crop of OBs will learn.

Red, why not keep too the subject at hand which you?ve clearly had not with your first response by stating and I quote,

?Reading comprehension isn't her strong suit.  Neither are women's health issues.

    Amen for Shallow Gene Pools.?

There was know need for this nescient response as you?ve clearly done. The fact that I?ve stated, ?America?s looking better and better to me.? Has clearly struck a nerve with you. You are an extremely pompous and deficient individual within this site. Your words and responses that you?ve shown within the time that I?ve been here are nothing less of a school girl looking for attention she?s never received. Show a little class and grow up.

  • Well from the article, it's also clear that if the baby presents feet first then the vaginal delivery is a no go.

What I think is MOST important is that if Doctors are trained to do this, then they are more likely to try and take non-invasive measures ahead of time to get baby to move so that they don't have to try and deliver vaginally. It's all about the non-invasive attempts which means they are opening their minds to alternative forms of care which is amazing.?

    Hastiness? Am I being hasty?

If you meant nastiness, I wouldn't say I'm being nasty in the least. I am feeling defensive towards Canada for one and I also think America has a real problem with how they look at and treat birth but, like you said, to each their own...right?

No.. No I meant hastiness.. I apologize for using such a confusing term. Fair enough in your views.

  • Boy, this thread devolved into inanity and illiteracy pretty quickly, huh?  Sorry, Isela - great link, though.  :)
  • That is good to hear... how about some love in the US now!! I am lucky that my MW refers to the only OB in the state that does breech vaginal deliveries.. several friends have not been as fortunate.
  • Well as a Canadian, I'm not surprised. Our healthcare is free you know. Universal/socialist healthcare means that doctors are unqualified and midwives run wild with their squirrel hearts and boiling water at births.

It's quite scary. My section was performed next to a seal harvest.

I love when Americans jump on the "Canada sucks" train. Way to go ignorant poster.

Oh and chrysallys, I sure hope when you get here, we can get together. Meet me by the big birthing igloo on the right. The one on the left is too liberal.

I think that I love you. Will you accept me, even though I am a liberal with a bleeding heart who craves free health care and seals? I will drench myself in maple syrup if it helps.

Only if you promise we can down a two-four together and laugh at the drowning polar bears ;)

LMAO I can't tell how much I and my good for nothing Canadian husband loved this post.
