So I got a total of 24 emails yesterday and this morning in response to the post about eliminating debt.
I wrote out a quick email while Mr. Seminole was beside me talking so Im not sure how much sense it made but I did the best I could.
I was thinking about a weekly check in. Since losing debt is kinda like losing weight, we could keep after each other. And it doesnt all have to be about debt either. I dont have debt but would still post.
I thought, without being specific at all, we could post our "wins" or "losses" for that week.
Ex. of wins:
"We reached our goal of having a $1000 (or you dont have to name a number) emergency fund"
"we paid off our first credit card!"
"we have piad off 10% of our debt!"
For those without debt:
"We set up automatic withdraws for our 401k!"
Example of losses:
"We ate out twice this week"
"Dh bought a new expensive fishing pole"
"I went shopping at Ann Taylor and bought $200 worth of clothes."
Those work do those without debt too that are just trying to be better with money.
Whatever you want them to be. The idea is during the week you will think "do I want to have to 'report' this expensive pair of shoes to the other money girls?" and maybe you wont do it. Or maybe it will be alittle extra motivation to be able to come on here and say "We did it! we didnt eat out for 2 weeks!" etc etc.
We can do this on here or via email although on here will be much easier. I will be happy to head this up, I do the SAHM check in on Weds and have only been late once. Maybe we can do this on Tuesdays? If anyone else would like to do this you are welcome to also.
Thoughts?
Re: Idea for all the money/debt concerns we've been talking about.
oh and we can also give money saving tips!
speaking of which can I get that email
blake.laura @ hotmail
i think its a great idea! i could use the extra inspiration not to spend and we are always looking for more ideas on savings.
and you didnt hear from me yesterday, but i d like to read what you had to say too
browerkg@ yahoo . com thanks!
that sounds like a good idea jess. especially since i might not be workingnext year, money will be very tight bc i was the insurance carrier for the family bc DH just started his own business. so...not sure what we are going to do about that and if we did Cobra, its going to be EXPENSIVE!! sigh. i need to curb my spending anywyas and this can help me be accountable.
btw, Jess, i meant to reply to your post yesterday about Abby but then Brooklyn started crying, etc. SHe is not "fat" or "chunky"- she's adorable!!!!!!!!!!! as having actually seen her IRL, trust me. i dont think she looks too big for her age or anything, seriously. she's precious and healthy and people just just keep their mouths shut. and since we live so close, the next time someone says that,i will have my pointy shoes ready for a swift kick in the shin.
I think it's a great idea, I love it!.
Jess
Is there anyway to download or give everyone a copy of the dave Ramsey budge plan or something similar to it, so that we can all be on the same page.
Oh and BTW, your DD is beautiful. DS was 18 lbs by the time he was 4 months old, yep 18lbs, he was born at 37weeks due to High BP, he was 8lbs 14 ounces when he was born. I would not worry about people and and their stupid comments.
I think it's a great idea!
Could you send me that email too? To my yahoo? It's the same as my gmail, just @yahoo.com
