  • I'd call the after hours pedi.
  • Does she like to eat yogurt?  They say the active cultures in yogurt are the good type of bacteria that protect the vagina (the good bacteria that the strep antibiotics probably wiped out).

Is it that type of YI, or is it an external rash, like a diaper rash?  For a mild rash, the doc can give you an antifungal cream.

I'd say to make sure her bottom stays as dry as possible too.

  • I would take her to the doctor first thing in the morning. Poor baby :(

    ditto, poor thing!

  • For temporary relief, she can sit with something cool (like an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas) between her legs (if she'll sit still for that long!). It always helps calm the itching.
  • She'll definitely need a script for a YI cream from the doctor. :(
  • Our pedi just had us go to the pharmacy and buy monistat.  I am pretty sure thats what it was.  It did the trick too!  I think we put it on once and it cleared it up.  Then a different time she got a bad rash down there and I put the monistat on and it didn't work.  Took her to pedi and he wrote a script for an antifungal with a steriod in it that worked.  (I think, I just know it was something different than the monistat and he actually wrote a script vs. the over the counter stuff)  Good luck, that is no fun!  Hope she feels better soon.
