Does anyone not have a driver's license?

Just curious.  I don't and it is the single most stressful point in my relationship with my husband.  BUT I am taking intensive driving lessons and hope to have my license by the end of July after what has been a very long road.  Of course if I fail I will be so sad and DH so disappointed.  Anyone else in the same boat as me.

 

*** Note getting a driver's license in NL is much more difficult than in the US.  The theory exam is 65 questions and you are only allowed to miss five.  You can't drive with anyone who is not a licensed instructure.  You must take your test on a stick shift.  And the first time pass rate is like 25%.

    I think nyc212 doesn't have a driver's license, but that's because she lives in NYC.  You don't really need one there.

     

    Why is it causing stress with your DH?  And I forget what country you're in, sorry. Embarrassed

    I don't have a license. I live in Chicago. DH and I don't own a car. Of course I will have to obtain one once we move out of the city in a few years.

    We live in the Netherlands and you don't really need a license there.  It causes stress because I can never pick him up at the airport (like he does for me), I can't share driving when we go to Paris, I can't drive DD anywhere, etc.  It is just a huge inconvenience for him and I completely understand.

    Neither I nor my husband do. he has ... whatever a beginner's is called in the US, and I have nothing at all. We've lived in areas that you don't *need* a car (I lived just outside Toronto until recently, he grew up and lived in NYC until he moved in with me!) so it's not a big deal :)

    I'll probably get one when I move up north for the summer though. It's all wilderness... and stores are far and few between, yikes!

    I wish drivers licenses were more difficult to get here.  I think they just pass them out like candy.
