I haven't been around today, so I may be repeating what has already been said. Using the word "retarded" as a synonym for the word "stupid" is offensive.

It doesn't matter how many posts I have read. I looked at the board and the first thing I saw was an extremely offensive word staring at me. There is never an excuse to use that word.

Perhaps you need some reading and comprehension classes. I said he is NOT mentally retarded but he IS stupid. Not once did I say mentally retarded people are stupid.
No, I did not read the other posts. I am not on here much. I went back and looked at them after they were pointed out, and I still don't understand how hating a word makes me an idiot?
I have seen first hand how hateful this word can be, and it really really bothers me that it is thrown around the way it is. I don't even like seeing it written down. If that makes me an idiot, so be it.

It is SUPER mature to joke around with an offensive word. Like I said, I don't follow all the drama on here....this just bugs me. That word is awful, and so is anyone who would "joke around" with it.

You said he "MAY NOT be mentally retarded", actually that's a lot different than saying he IS NOT mentally retarded. You leave the door open that he actually might be mentally retarded and whether he is or isn't, he's stupid. Followed by the BUT in that sentence, you are drawing a direct comparison to the term "retarded" and the word "stupid".
I don't think any previous discussion today makes the inappropriate use of the term "retarded" ok.

Oh trust me, I am not whining. I am genuinely in shock about the mob mentality that happens here. Normal, rational people do not do things like that. But they all decided it was okay to joke around with those words today, so it is? Makes no sense to me. Maybe my disbelief came off as whining, sorry if it did...like Kaitlin said, I am VERY happy I am not part of that club
You should reconsider the use of the word "insane".
There were a few people who posted here that have the same opinion as you of the inappropriate use of the word. Just as there were just a few who defended the OP. "They all" didn't decide it was ok, just a few people did.
There are almost never any topics posted about on these boards where everyone will agree. Suspend your disbelief, and enjoy the insanity!
