i only sterilized the stuff when i bought them.... and then i sterilize the pacifiers 1x a month. But I always throw everythign in the washing machine every night.
however, our new washing machine now has a sterilization feature!! so i can start using that more often!
Ditto Sam - I only sterilized once when I first got them - by sterilizing I mean boiling in hot water. After that I always washed in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher.
Now I just wash in hot water, before the first use (pacifiers, sippies, etc) - I haven't boiled anything in a while.

a washing machine that sterilizes bottles/pacis?? ive never heard or seen of such a thing
I used my baby bottle sterilizer for 6 months, after that I too used the sterilization feature on my dish washer, which is what I think Jenny meant ;o) I stopped using the special sterilization feature at two years, as she uses mostly normal cups with straws and I just wash it all with all of our dishes, HOT HOT HOT soapy water is what I use for everything. Since you don't have a dish washer in your kitchen, if I were you, I would contune to use your sterilizer. I dont think that you are crazy at all...
Mari, I sterilized her bottles and paci's every single day until she was about 9 months old!!! Everyone thought I was crazy, but then I felt weird when I stopped, like I was going to hurt Zoe by giving her unsterilized bottles! Of course, it didn't hurt her at all! lol. I was very happy once I put the sterilizer away for good :-)
I sterilized bottles once, when I first bought them. Now I just wash with warm soapy water. I don't sterilize pacifiers or sippy cups...warm soapy water too.
I did however, sterilize my BM storage containers when I was pumping at least once a week. I stopped pumping when Chelsea was five months.
OH wow- then i think I'm the sterilizer queen! I stopped sterilizing Gaby's bottle when she was moved to a sippy cup at a year old. I still sterilize all of Alejandro's bottles, nipples and paci's every night, and I wash in hot hot water while I wash them.
We use the Avent one. We saved it after Gaby stopped using bottles. My brother got it for me when I had her. So I saved it after he passed away even though we didn't plan on having #2.
I sterilized all of Sophia's bottles and nipples and attachments until she was 6 months old. By then she was all over the floor and putting eveyrthing in her mouth so I figured it was a moot point.
However, I still got some comfort in the fact that by washing her stuff in the dishwasher scalding hot water is ultra cleaning her cups and forks and stuff.

Oh yeah by sterilize I meant boil in hot water, I never used an actual machine.

So now that you're talking about sterilizing...do any of you recommend a specific model??
I have bornfree bottles & use the born free microwave sterilizer. Does 4 bottles at once, just add 6.5 ounces of water and microwave for 4 minutes.

I only sterilized stuff in boiling water in a pot once!
Otherwise it just goes in the dishwasher or gets washed with warm water and soap in the sink.
Zachary doesn't use a paci so I don't have to deal with those anymore.
