Does anyones pubic bone kill.

OMG. I've read up on this a little but I never had it with my daughter. My pubic bone hurts SO BAD, It hurts whenever I move, and especially when I get up. Dear God, on top of that my foot slipped on the tile today when I was getting out of the shower and I did a Rusiian split but caught myself thank God. I swear I thought my body was going to rip in half. I got checked out at my appt. and had no contractions or anything but OUCH. I think I am officially starting to fall apart. I'm really uncomfortable in so many way. Does anyone else have this horrible pubic bone pain and if so have you found anything to alleviate it? Thanks, Marcie

  • Yes!  It's gotten really bad over the past week or so too.  It is awful and actually brings me to tears at night.  Try googling symphysis pubis dysfunction to see if that is what you think you might have.  I'm 99.9% sure this is what I've been experiencing including the popping some articles mention.  I have an appt with my OB tomorrow so I plan on bringing it up, but it doesn't appear there is a whole lot that can be done for it.

  • YES! The pain started last week for me and it drives me crazy, the only thing that I found that helps me is to sit with my feet up, as much as possible and if it gets too bad, I'll take some Tylenol.

Oh yes -- I had horrible pelvic pain in my pg, one of my biggest complaints.  At one point my MFM had me taking Ibuprofrin to help (just for a few days) and it worked and give me a short time of relief (it's not recommended for long term and you really should ask before taking it!!!!).  Laying on my side with a pillow between my knees helped as did lounging on the couch (kind of half sitting/half lying down).  If I walked any distance OMG it hurt -- so that was avoided.

So yeah -- be lazy as much as possible and it will help Smile  Oh -- it took a few months after birth for it to go away too (sorry!)

Sorry are in pain -- that is the WORST!

  • I dont think there is much you can do for it but I would try to keep off your feet as much as possible, as the weight from the babies will make it worse...I think when it gets reallllly bad there might be some injections you can get but I think typically there is not much to be done & if it really comes apart, it can take a bit after birth to heal up, so another motivation for staying off your feet. I've been starting to get little zinging pains there periodically & said something to my OB and he basically said bedrest is the best preventive measure for it.

GL & I hope it doesnt get worse!?

  • OH YES! I have that definitely. Its been worse the past two weeks. Which really makes me believe that bedrest was good for me. It almost feels like your vagina and pubic bone are getting torn apart. I have to say sleeping on the side with a pillow helps alot and so does reclining on sofa with feet up.
