Success after IF

How old when the babies use this....

We are putting all of our baby gear away and we'll put some things in the back of the storage closet because we know the baby will not need them for at least 6 months (convertible car seat, high chair, booster seat, potty training stuff, jogging stroller etc.).  But there is some other stuff I have know I dea when the baby will start to use it.  What about the activity gym?  The tummy time mat?  The exersaucer? The baby tub? The bumpo seat (bebe pod)?  When will the baby use these items?  Thanks!

Re: How old when the babies use this....

  • Activitiy gym - not sure but if it is something that the baby sits or lays on the floor with, then you can use it within the first month.

Tummy Time Mat - again within the first month

Excersaucer -  8 weeks - 4 months of age or when the baby can sucessfully hold their head up and has some leg control..

Baby Tub - As soon as the umbilical cord falls off.

Bumbo Seat - When the baby can hold their head up.

    This sounds correct to me

I agree.  But I also wanted to say, don't put the jogging stroller TOO far away. You can use that as soon as your cleared to work out - so like 6 weeks.  Also we use to put the babies in the high chair when they could hold their heads up just so they could sit with us at the table so don't put that too far back too.  I would say around 3/4 months old!

  • yup what tak says...

    exersaucer = after 3 months

activity gym - immediately....DS loved it and started kicking his feet to music at just a few wks old.  so 1-2wks or after.  they won't spend hours on it, but DS never did and he loves it...good for 15minutes at a time - even as a small baby..

high chair (we used our high chair at 3 months or so,,, it reclined and was a great place for E to be when we ate dinner)

What about the activity gym?  is it one the baby will lie under? If so, we used it right away

The tummy time mat? right away, 5 min away

The exersaucer?as soon as there is really good head control, like 3 months or so

The baby tub?I got an infant to toddler (which was really only big enough for infant!) and we used it as soon as the cord fell off, like 9 days old

The bumpo seat (bebe pod)? Recommended age is 4 months for bumbo, dont know for bebe.

  • I agree, though I always heard 4 months for the Exersaucer, and once they seem motivated to stand/bear weight with assistance.  And you probably know that you shouldn't jog with the jogging stroller until 12 months, though you can walk with it as soon as they're ready depending on the brand. :)
