I mean, in a town like DC where there are so many working moms, many of whom can't leave work until 6, I'm surprised there aren't more day cares that stay open later (say 7?) to give us time to leave work and commute to the center. Mine charges a dollar a minute for every minute I'm late after 6:05, but it's in Rockville and I work on Capitol Hill. Leaving early isn't an option for me (thankfully it is for DH), but neither is taking DS to work. Has anyone else noticed this?
Re: rant: why do daycares all close at 6pm?
It's sad really- I would love to have DS in a daycare nearby so I could visit him during lunch or even just for the peace of mind that I'm nearby in case he gets sick. We're on several different waitlist for centers downtown which would make it a lot easier- fingers crossed!
Ours closes at 6:30pm as well.
