Does anyone use a Harness Buddy?

https://www.amazon.com/Eddie-Bauer-Harness-Buddy-Monkey/dp/B001OB9LBI/ref=pd_sbs_t_2

Sometimes DS just reeeally wants to walk (run) instead of being held or in the stroller. We'll be travelling in a few weeks and I can see him wanting to walk around while we're waiting in the gate at the airport. Do you think this could be a good idea? I think I'll be too nervous to just completely let him loose b/c he runs pretty fast.

  • I just got one (after swearing pre-baby I wouldn't).  I haven't used it yet.  But, DS is the same way - always wanting to explore and FAST.  I think it will be good to use at places like the zoo, etc.

  • Haven't used one yet but having 2 running in different directions and having traveled with them both I will say that if there is ANY place the are warranted it's in the airport. ?Too many people and they can get away and out of eye sight wayyyyy too fast.

    ?

I just bought something similar for our trip in August.

    ?

And I too thought leashes were stupid at one point in time.

    ?

Now I think my kids' safety is more important that what other people think of me.?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • I know, isn't it funny, all of the things we rolled our eyes at before we actually became parents?  What nerve! lol

  • I do have one and I do use it. I never thought I would but sometimes it becomes my life saver. DD is very strong willed and loves to walk around but she is very fast too. I used it last weekend at a carnival and it was awesome! She listened really well and liked the "freedom" of walking around. We call it her "Monkey Pack" and she knows what we are talking about. I haven't noticed any bad looks but instead I have gotten many questions on where to get one.

Edit: I let her wear it around the house to get used to it and I find that that probably helped!

  • Do you guys have the Eddie Bauer, or a different brand? Thx

?$15.00 cheapie back pack from BRU.

That way he can keep all his special toys for the plane in his own bag.

He DIGS having a back pack of his own just like Daddy's!

Ditto. I believe they also had a dog and a teddy bear too. DD loves hers Smile

  • I am thinking about getting one.  I also was one that SWORE I would never have my kid on a "leash" but now I completely understand why parents use them.  DD loves to walk by herself and its so hard to get her to hold you hand and walk with you.  I'll have to look into getting one.
  • I have the Eddie Bauer one.  It was $11 at Target. :)

  • LOL - I was CERTAIN I was going to see a post here that said "Umm... NO.  Leashes are for DOGS not kids!"

Anyway... I will probably get one in due time... Right DD is good about holding on to a finger... all I have to say is "Finger" and she grabs on...

I'd oblige if you'd like, but I generally save that for people who are asking opinions about the merits of leashes. I don't have a Harness Buddy, so I was restraining myself. Stick out tongue

  • I definitely see one in our future once we have 2 kids and I'm outnumbered. For now, I can run after DS, and I only let him down if it's a safe area. Otherwise, he's in the Ergo.

I like the one that's a monkey and you grab the tail.

  • I also swore I would never get one of these.  While DD does hold my hand, there are so many times she fights me on it when we are in public, so I gave in and let her pick out her bear bookbag.  I plan to take it to Disney to use while we are standing in line.

Lori, would you like to try to hold or chase my DS  in a crowded airport? I do not have any interest in "leashes" on a daily basis but I will gladly ignore judgmental eye rolling if it keeps my very active DS safe in an airport. He can literally throw himself from my arms if I do not hold him w/ every oz. of strength I have, and almost outrun me if my hands are full w/ bags and luggage. "Hold my finger" is not an option. Our stroller will be checked. I'm surprised you're being so quick to judge!

Nope, I swore I'd never get one before and I still have the same stance.
