Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Early 4 mo wakeful or...

For the past month DD has been sleeping great, getting up 1 or 2 times a night. Well, this past week it ALL went down hill. She's been getting up like 4, sometimes 5 or more times a night.

I'm not sure if it's the 4 mo wakeful because she is also grabbing her feet in her sleep! I think this is waking her up. Everytime I lay her down her legs shoot straight up and she starts grabbing her feet - with her eyes closed! I've tried swaddling her again, laying on  the side, putting her in a sleep sack and NOTHING is working.

I miss my baby that would sleep and go back to sleep as soon as she was done nursing! Sad

What do you think - Early 4 mo wakeful or her stinkin' feet?

  • I dunno, but my perfect sleeper had a rough week or so about the same age. Hes now back to 8hrs or so for the last few nights.

  • interesting w/the feet thing. I just think my LO is too chubby to even touch her feet! LOL

It could be her 4 month wakeful. If she's not crying when she's waking up, let her talk in her crib for a bit before you go in. maybe she'll go back to sleep on her own.

  • Lately ds has been waking several times during the night, I'll hear him cooing look over at him and his feet are up in the air and he's trying to grab them. He puts himself back to sleep when he's done playing with his feet so I guess I can't complain about it.
  • My DD is just really discovering her feet too.  Not quite as facinated with them as her hands, but she is interested in playing with them.  So swaddling will not work?  Sometimes recently my dd has been waking up at night (like only 2 hours after she last ate).  I know she can't be hungry again and she doesn't want her paci... she wants me.  A few nights I had to let her sleep on my chest for a few hours.  I need my sleep too!  Mine may just be a tummy sleeper though, but I won't put her like that in her crib yet.

Hopefully they'll get over the wakefullness issue and go back to sleeping soundly soon!!

mine has been doing the same (well not the feet, b/c she's swaddled but the constant wake up!) for about a week. I'm hoping it's the 4 month wakeful early and it'll end soon!!!

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
