Reflux moms....help!

What position is your LO most comfortable sleeping in?

Good God DD cries and whines her way to sleep unless she's being held (particularly upright).  We keep her upright for more than 30 min post feeding and she's ready to go to sleep but can't get comfortable.  Her crib is elevated.  I want to help her feel better and more comfortable for her sake and my sanity's sake.

  • He'll sleep in the bouncy chair or his car seat.

    Good luck!

  • I know they say not for sleeping, but have you tried putting her in the boppy to sleep. Keeps them at a nice comfortable angle.

We have Willis elevated with a wedge under his mattress. Buy sounds like you are already doing that.

Ok- so I'm reflux mom to an old reflux baby but we still have lots of issues so I'll chime in.  DS would only sleep on my chest while I sat up.  I tried the swing and bouncy, nothing worked.  Unfortunately, the only way I could get him to sleep was on his tummy.  It scared me to death!  However, according to my GI this is pretty common amongst reflux babies.  It goes back to why they used to have babies tummy sleep.  If he through up on his back he'd choke, if he spit up on his tummy he could clear it.  After we spent 5 days in the hospital with pnuemonia we started letting him tummy sleep with dr's approval.  She said his head control was good enough that the risk of pneumonia and aspirating was less than his risk of SIDS.  I would recommend looking at the following products:

  • My LO loves his tummy, but I don't let him sleep that way at night(although he can already roll completely over with one arm trapped under him). We elevated his crib and purchased a positioner for Reflux babies. It shapes the body and is made of memory foam. It also has a heart beat sound to help them sleep. It's at BRU for $36.99.

  • He sleeps reclined and on his side at night.  During the day its the bouncer or his boppy on his tummy

  • Mine will only sleep in his swing.  He also wants to be held all the time and hates being on his back.  I hear this is common with acid reflux.
