JcPenney's Portraits?

Anyone used, or know of some who has used, JcPenney's Portrait Studio for either maternity or newborn pictures?

I found several maternity photographers in my area but simply can't afford their pricing so I'm looking for a more economical option.

Good or bad experiences? Other suggestions?

Also for those who have done them or are planning to what week are you aiming for?

  • I used JCPenney for all my DD's pics.  I tried Sears once but hated them.

To me, it depends on the people taking the pictures. One person could have an awesome experience with JCP because they had a great photographer but another person could go to that same location an have horrible pictures due to a different photographer.

  • I am thinking 26- 28 weeks for me. I want to a bit bigger and so I can srap book the pictures. I don't see why not for either. I did not even think to go to JCP, I may have to do that, my boss takes her daughter once a month to JCP for pictures.
  • a friend of mine has had all of her family portraits done there, they turn out absolutely adorable. she has done the maternity photos and done the 1 month 2 month 3 month.... and so on. No complaints yet!
  • My friend swears by them. She always has the cutest pics and cards made by JCP.
  • Sorry, but I was lurking a bit and saw this post....I used to work for JCP Portraits as a photographer and, as long as you request an experienced photographer, you should be just fine.  Many times they will be training a newbie and allow them to do half or all of the sitting and you can end up not getting the greatest pictures then.  Also, if you have specific poses that you want, make sure to let them know when you call to make the appointment and also make sure that they know it when you go in for your appointment.  I know that when I worked there, it was only a 10 minute sitting, so be prepared for that as well.  (I don't think that that has changed, but I could be wrong.  However, as long as you have an experienced photographer, ten minutes should be enough.)  Good luck!
  • Because I'm mildly hormonal & would be waaaaay sad if I didn't get good pics do they let you "reserve" two time slots if each slot is only 10min in length?

You can definatly bring it up to them.  I know that my studio would let people do that most of the time when they asked.....unless it was on the weekends because we were so busy on Sat. & Sun.  If your local studio wants your business though, they'll be willing to work with you!  Big Smile
