I've decided I'm going to pump some and see if I can gain some sanity back. Being the sole avenue for food from my constant feeder is making it hard for the baby blues to go away and I'm ready for DH to help me out. When is the best time to pump? I've tried it once and only got 1oz before I was unable to pump any more milk out (granted it was right after a feeding). So, do you pump right after a feeding to make sure you have milk for the next feeding? I'm clueless here. Also, what is considered "enough" in a bottle for a full feeding? 4oz? I've got a couple of books, but I'm not finding this info. I feel so stupid when it comes to this stuff. *sigh*
Re: Talk to me about pumping
for a one week old 1-2 ounces is plenty. I know that you are tired and feel like you are the only source of food but your supply is adjusting. I would say that a bottle every once in a while is ok but if you want to continue to BF you probably don't want to do this too often. The first 2-4 weeks of BF are the hardest but the time flies. GL
Edit: Let me answer your question. I pumped once a day an hour after his morning feeding and would get anywhere between 2-4. I started pumping at around 6.5
weeks.

Start with 1-2 oz for the first bottle, and then go from there. BF babies don't need much, my DS is still only taking 4 oz.
Hang in there. It WILL get easier!
