Pregnant after a Loss

"I hope that boy doesn't have a vagina!"

That's what my grandmother said to me yesterday b/c when I talk about the baby I use masculine terms - he/his/him. She thinks I shouldn't get my hopes up too high, and I'm not, it's just wishful thinking. When I talk to the baby I do try to say non-gender nicknames like peanut or little bug, but I just have a feeling that it's a boy. Anyway, just thought I'd share the funny.

  • LOL! Your grandma is so funny! (in a kind of inappropiate way, ha!)

  • Ha!  Sometimes we refer to LO as "he" though we really don't care either way.  In fact, my first inclination was to think it is a girl!  It's just easier sometimes to pick one and go with it!

  • I tend to call mine "he" too, maternal instinct!

  • I do the same thing. I just can't hep it.   My sister is convinced it's going to be a girl and she keeps saying your little is going to a girl....

  • That's tunny!  One of my mom's friends told me I shouldnt use masculine terms when talking about the baby but I do.  I have a feeling its a boy too...I shut her up by telling her I am just using the "literary He"...both she and my mother are reading specialists-She didnt say anything else after that.
