There isn't really a way to change Hunter without also changing the pronunciation. Maybe add another n (Hunnter)?

People use different spelling to be unique. it's not up to you bloggers to like or not like.

1- if they want to be unique, then they can change the spelling of THEIR OWN name and suffer the consequences of it.

2- this is a public site and we can absolutely state if we like this or not. I don't see hwo its YOUR place to tell us what we can and can't say here.

I personally think jacking up the spelling of your childs name to be "unique" is silly, selfish, and pretty much makes you look llike you don't know how to spell.

A lot of typos here for someone so upset and concerned about spelling and grammar... Just saying!

all i'm saying is why pick on the children's names now it is done. i can understand you saying use their own name but she didn't. i just wouldn't like anyone to talk about my babies name and i'm sure none of you would appreciate others talking about your children's name because in the end if thats on the birth cert. until they are old enough to say they don't like and want it changed it is their name. It can be changed if and when the child chooses. i don't think it fair to talk about the other kids. and EastCoastBride your right with statement numebr two it's not my place but i got angry when i felt like people were talking about the kids and i know everyone has their own thoughts about it i have just learned that you can't take these comments personally cause some of these i felt like was pretty darn hurtful.

Umm, I thought the reason people like alternate spellings is to make their child stand-out and make them unique. If you don't want people to talk about your baby's name, then what's the point of having it stand-out in the first place? Have you ever heard anybody say "Oh, wow! That's such a beautiful spelling of Hoountyrre. How lovely! I never would have thought of such a unique and beautiful way of spelling that."

People on these boards have VERY strong opinions about alternative name spellings

I don't want you to feel like you cannot come here for advice, support, ect... But you must understand that certain people have certain perceptions of different names.

For you:

Hunter = boring

For "us":

Huunntyer Huntyr (et al) = Ignorant

Nobody is "wrong" in their perceptions, they are just different.

I agree with this. I think you other two children's names are just fine, I just don't think Hunter looks quite as good any other way. But Huntor was probably the best alternative.

I agree - Hunter is nice the way it is, but it's not a name that can really be spelled differently without it looking really weird.
