why I hate my MIL

She lives just a few blocks away (yes that would be reason number one) but she doesnt come here very often which is good and when she does come here she always calls first, but here is the worst part - she only wants to babysit the boys. It's like whenever she comes here she wants me out of the picture. She asked DH once if I had anything to do one day because she missed her boys and wanted to come over here - ummm hellloooo - I'm not that horrible and yes we do get along. But wait there's more....

So she's here yesterday and DH and I were supposed to go to bed bath and beyond but we decided to stay home and clean (havent mopped since the boys were born - gross I know). She shoots me this look like "oh you're not going anywhere"!!! Then over the course of the afternoon she says that she wants to take them to disney for their first time WITHOUT US!!! And that she would love to take them for 2 weeks over the summer to "get them out of my hair" - ughhh THEY ARE MY KIDS and yes while it can be stressful taking care of them everyday - they are my kids and i love them - I dont need a two week break from them, plus YOU LIVE AROUND THE BLOCK!!!!

Then just to ice the cake - a few weeks back she was burping one of the boys and she was barely patting his back so I told her that she needs to hit him a little harder otherwise he gets really bad gas. SO I show her and she shoots me this look and says "Ok well if that's the way you want it done" It's not about how I want it done - it's about how it works and keeping my son out of pain. So yesterday she's burping a baby and she says "look now mommy can't complain". I snapped and said to drop it and just burp him.

Oh and just to add a little more on the weirdness scale - when she comes in they both have to eat and she's like "I can feed them both - I know how to - I've done it before (yes like once - I do it everyday x'6 - but it's not a competition right) so I told her that I know how to too, but there are three peoole here and even I'm not that dumb!!

Ughhh I just feel like she wants me out of the picture and she makes me very uncomfortable, but the worst part is that she will be watching the boys when I go back to work in september. She loves them and is good with them, but I just feel like she's competing with me about taking care of them.

Sorry that was so long - I just need to get it off my chest.

I totally understand. I had a huge blowout with my MIL over the weekend. She accused me of hogging my own son! I think she would be really happy if she could just get rid of me as well. Mine doesn't live around the block but she lives about 4 miles away so we see her quite a bit. Good to know I am not alone in the whole pain in the a$$ MIL.
