Switching to Similac Sensitive

My DS spits up a TON anytime of the day.  Right after eating, 3 hours after eating, tummy time, sitting up, laying down, anytime!  He's all happy about it, but I am getting soo frustrated about having to change his clothes so often and getting sit up on absolutly everything he touches.  My doctor calls him a "happy spitter" and never suggested to switch, but I'm thinking we should try it.  He's on Similac Advanced now.  So has anyone switched and seen an improvement in there LO's stomach issues?  What makes this type of formula better for a belly? and finally how do you switch?  TIA

Re: Switching to Similac Sensitive

  • We switched from Similac Advance to Similac Sensitive, and then finally settled on Similac Isomil (soy). She was spitting up a ton on the advance, and we honestly didn't notice much difference when we switched to the sensitive. She's done a lot better on the soy.

  • My ds was on soy and is now on sensitive. Seems to be doing much better on the sensitive. As for how, we were told to do it gradual. 3oz of the soy and 1oz on sensitive and gradualy decrease the soy and increase the sensitive. I have heard of others that just do the switch cold turkey.

  • Try the Soy, it made a WORLD of a difference for us.

  • My DD was on Similac Sensitive and we just switched to the Similac Sensitive RS which has added rice starch to reduce the spit up.  She still spits up but I don't think its nearly as much.  The formula is thicker so its supposed to help it stay down rather than come back up.  They just introduced a powder form and that's why we tried it.   Just make sure that you make the hole bigger or get a faster flow nipple since its thicker it needs a bigger hole.  We just realized this with my DD and now she's using the platex fast flow nipples.
