CHI flat irons? (NBR)

I have wildly curly hair.  I like to mix it up and occasionally blow dry and flat iron it smooth and purdy :)

I got my hair cut last week, and the stylist used a chi flat iron...it was amazing!  I never put any thought into switching from my much cheaper brand because it got the job done...but now I am wondering if it could be worth the money!

Do any of you use a chi?  If you've used others, do you find the chi was worth the expense?

*I recently rented my house up north, so I have a little extra cash flow.  I could afford to make the switch, but I'm a cautious spender and I wanted some real ladies opinions.*

TIA!

  • My friends have been raving to me about the CHI for months.  They love it.

  • I, too, use a Chi.  I think they are great and worth every penny.  If you live near an Ulta, I'm sure you can find a coupon on line.  I've also seen them at Marshalls for $70.00.

Ulta was where I got my hair cut!  BUT...it's 2 hours away lol.

Thanks to everyone who responded!  It's just one of those things I would have hated to buy and realize it was just as good as my cheaper iron.  Thanks again for all your opnions!

  • Chi is a good mid price brand, however they are known to die out within a year.

  • I loved it when my hair was longer... now that it's shorter I don't always have to use it.

just be careful, if it drop it, it will shatter.

If you find a place like harmon beauty supply it will be cheaper than getting it from the salon.

  • I have had mine for about 4 years - and it is still going strong! To me, absolutely worth it - doesn't cause breakage like the cheap ones do! I got mine at Ulta - with a coupon, so be sure to check!
  • Ok, you've all twisted my arm.

I will be looking into this today, and again, thanks for all your opinions!

  • I used several different flat irons before recently switching to a Chi and I absolutely LOVE it!  I got mine at ULTA on sale and with a coupon :)
  • The Costco near my house has them right now for like $55-60, which is a great deal!
  • Love mine.  Works great, heats up fast, etc... and I've had it for like 4 years and it's still going strong!
  • I used to sell CHI and GHD (Good Hair Day - out of the UK)....Chi is decent, but if you want to do anything more than just straightening (like curling, waving, etc) get a GHD, they have plates that rock back and forth so you can do more than just straightening, you'll notice the Chi rocks a bit too, but the GHD is better ( I sold both companies).  Since I was making the investment, I wanted something that was an awesome straightener and could curl.  Go on youtube to see GHD how- to videos (you Chi users can do  it too! but the curls, effects typically don't last as long).  Sorry this got lengthy...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjHarZgVpfo&NR=1 skip ahead to 1:45, and they tell you you need the different products (marketing move)

no way, i have had mine for about 6 years and it still works amazing. Plus they have a lifetime warranty, if it ever breaks you send them the iron and like 20 bucks and the send you a new one. FOREVER. as long as there is CHI, you can get a new one, and as many times as you need to.

  • OMG I'm addicted to mine! It was completely with the cost!

Considering every high end salon I go to has them and recommends them, I can't imagine they really break that quickly.  I have had mine for years, as has my sister and mother.  I think  my mom's is the oldest at 7 years.
