I am in the process of washing the baby's clothes (for the first time before he wears them). And I am using Dreft. When I dry the clothes should I not use fabric softener? I am not a big fan of washing new clothes, but I have read it's what you need to do. Thanks in advance for your help or any tips!
Re: washing new baby clothes - fabric softener?
No fabric softener.
And why are you not a fan of "washing new clothes"??? You should always wash new clothes before you wear them. Clothes are in warehouses with rodents, people touching them in stores.... ew. Always wash new clothes.
No softener!
And not just for baby clothes - try not using it in your regular laundry, too, since your baby will be snuggling against you and other fabrics.
Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle and use dryer balls - the fabric comes out just as soft and without chemicals or smells.
I wanted to tell you that I started using vinegar in the rinse cycle rather than fabric softener per your suggestion and it works really well. Just wanted to say thanks!
Really! Hmm....I'll be picking up some dryer balls then! Thanks!
You can use it on your own clothes, the reason behind not using it on baby clothes is it destroys the fire retardant stuff of their PJ's. Using a free and clear on yours shouldn't bother babies skin.
I am using dryer balls on baby clothes, softens them up but does little for static.
