So my cute diaper pail is officially toast.

I noticed a while ago that I had some white stuff (mold?) growing in the bottom of my basket and on the carpet underneath, so I cleaned it all really well and lined the basket with a lawn & leaf bag and started over.  Well, last night at 3 am I dropped a snappi behind the changing table, and I had to move the diaper pail to get to it this morning and saw that it's back.  I know it's not seepage, since I had the plastic liner plus the PUL liner.  I'm pretty sure it was just condensation.  I've cleaned up the basket again (vinegar + sun) and I'll steam clean the carpet and start shopping for a decent-looking trash can :( At least I can get a step can or swing top so I don't have to worry about DH leaving the lid open and the dogs getting into the diapers.

Oh, and I ordered new pail liners from Abby's Lane since I made mine to fit a short square basket, and didn't realize until after I ordered them that they won't ship until after the 15th.  So I guess I'll be using the hanging wetbag for the next week and a half or so.

  • Seriously...go to the Goodwill and get a jersey knit pillowcase.  So easy, so cheap and I'll never go back.

  • Sorry you're having problems with the basket, and sorry to hear that your pail liners will be taking so long.  :P

  • Honestly, that basket was the one thing I thought would be an issue with your nursery.  Sorry it didn't work out.
