Free Standing but not walking?

For about a week, DS has been gaining confidence in standing without any support and can stand as long as 10 minutes before slowly easing himself back down to the floor. ?Is there anything that we can do to encourage him to take a few steps or will this just happen?

    MH would sort of trick her and stand one step away from her and she'd make that step and then instead of scooping her up he'd move backwards more and ask it of her again, and she'd oblige. He got her to do 10 steps once like this!!

    It will just happen.  My friends son did this for a few weeks before gaining the courage/confidence to take those first steps.  But he was also a crazy good crawler, so was in no hurry to find other means of "transportation".  :)

    Maybe put out some"bait". DS would go for remotes, ice cream, or cell phones.
