Home Depot and Lowe's in my area carry both. I think the magnetic treatment might be with the specialty paints, though (like the spray paints and window frost treatments and stuff).
AHHHHHH!!!!! please consider the dust a chalkboard will make in your home before creating one on the wall. I am a teacher and will promptly throw away anything given to my child that includes chalk. Even if you use it here and there, it makes a dusting film on EVERYTHING! I think you can just buy magnetic paint if you were wondering.

I thought of that too. And am worried she would learn to write on the walls. I am leaning more towards the magnetic paint to hang her drawings, etc without putting holes in the wall. Thanks for the information though, very good point.

I've seen both at the local Benjamin Moore store. Try a specialty paint shop in your area.
