I love that someone with a biblical reference in their sig is calling the OP a punta ....classy.

As Gwynnetx (sorry if I butchered that sn) pointed out, you just mistranslated that, big time. ?Calling someone a 'punta' is not at all insulting. A 'puta' on the other hand, is.

And by the way, that 'biblical reference' isn't a biblical reference at all. ?Last I checked, 'Llamahorz' isn't a biblical book.

The thing that OP is getting flamed for is her attitude. ?Learning another language is very scary and very difficult, and even then, it's hard to communicate effectively on certain topics or when under duress (as one might be when seeking cancer treatment). ?Most non-native speakers understand more than they can communicate, and the fact that OP is on her high-horse rubs many, including me, the wrong way.

And for the record, in many industrialized countries, especially in Europe (at least from what I understand), it's almost unheard of to be monolingual. Learning a second (or third, or fourth) language has a lot of benefits, not in the least of which is being able to help others who may not have had the opportunity to learn the language before they moved here or are visiting.

For those who asked, I speak Polish, Russian, English, and French.

I know that she has been seeing this doctor for yearly followups since 2006. Her cancer is in remission.

Some patient just came up to me and said that "you bent over backwards for that lady, would you do that for me?"

"No sir unfortunately you speak English so you don't get as much of my attention."

    You disgust me.

disgust is a good, descriptive word in this case. ?well said.

apparently, you have a gift for languages since you say you speak 4. ?looks like the next one you pick up should be spanish!

and now, not only are you discriminating against people who only speak spanish, you're also turning your nose up at those who actually speak english. ?i'm so confused because that's so hypocritical. ?i'm going to draw the conclusion that no one stands a chance. ?at the very least, you are equal opportunity rude. ?
