My son is Mason but we ran into a girl Mason at the playground one day. I am also considering Ryan for a girls middle name which I never thought I would but I like it now.
I went to high school with a girl Ryan. My fiance and I want to use Aiden for our first, regardless of sex. There's also an actress named Evan Rachel Wood. Morgan is kind of unisex - I've known a couple of each.
My thought is this: I love nn for girls that are boy names, like Sammy for Samantha, Charlie for Charlotte, or Jo for Josephine. I really don't like when girls are just given boy names. For one thing, it kind of "steals" traditionally masculine names, further reducing the names that are boy names. (I'm scared names like Logan and Evan will soon be abandoned by boys and become strictly girl names like Ashley). And, I also think that some girls might be really upset to have a "boy name" and could get teased.
?Say your girl Ryan turns out to be a total girly girl and is upset that she has a boy's name (or getting teased for it). If her name were, say Josephine, but you just called her Jo, she could always revert to the feminine long name. But if it's Ryan, she's kind of stuck. If you do this, I would at least give her a really feminine middle name.?

I have a sorority sister named Blake, she's very girly and loves her name. I also teach a girl who's first name is Max, not short for anything, just Max (It's on her BC, I checked...). I don't particularly like the name Max for a girl, but I do like Blake.

My name is Jamie and it's unisex. I always liked having a name like this b/c people never know what they are getting until they meet me (for job interviews, school, etc).

Re: Boy names for a girl?
Taylor, Jordan?
Although this is a tricky topic as many names have become increasingly "unisex," when they weren't traditionally so.
James?! Really?? Please, no....
