How dangerous is it for a boy to have naked naptime?

DS has a horrendous diaper rash that isn't getting any better.  The pedi recommended lots of air time on top of the Rx cream she gave us.  I saw someone mention putting them down for a nap naked.  I have images of fountains of pee while he is sleeping though.

If you have a boy, have you ever tried this?  Did it work out ok, or did you have to scrub the walls afterward?

    that would be very brave. i have to clean up JDs pee everytime he takes his diaper off to get in the tub, i could only imagine what nap would bring.

    if you do, just make sure you put a plastic cover under the sheet and maybe tape up some trashbags on the wall nearby? it is only pee, it can be cleaned

    Too bad they don't make chaps-style diapers.

    you could always use a chucks under him for naps (if he is on his tummy) go for it. it is only pee and if it helps all the better!

    We're battling a horrible diaper rash hereto and I'm not brave enough. I've been giving him lots of air time outside and around while he plays. The pedi recommended soap and water to wash the area at each change and then using a hair blow dryer on cool. She said it is the same as letting them go bare naked.

    Maybe just put down some water proof pads.

     

    remember urine is sterile, so a soap wash on the wall would be the worst. If he sleeps face down like his doppleganger over here, then he has nothing to worry about.

    Well, maybe I'll have to brave it during naptime tomorrow.  He is already down for his nap today.

    He's all over the crib when he sleeps, so I might put down an ultimate crib sheet and just hope that he doesn't stand up and pee all over the rug when he wakes!

    Why don't you put him in the boxer style overnights? If they have a small enough size I'm sure they breathe more.

    That would be scary with my DS.  He leaks out of his diapers sometimes regardless.  DS had an AWFUL diaper rash when he was 4 months old.  The only thing that worked was Neosporin.  I'd give it a shot!

    Hopefully you read this... we did this with DS a couple of weeks ago. What I did was I unhooked one side of his diaper and fold it over his butt. Make sure the other side is pretty loose. This way the entire bottom is exposed. DS is a tummy sleeper though, so this really worked for us. Hope this helped.

    If you are up for it, when DD's rash gets bad, we have her play naked in the laundry basket for a while. She loves it and gives her a while to really dry off.

    Oh, and when she gets really bad, we layer Tinactin (athletes foot cures diaper yeast too), Vaseline and Desitin super thick, like frosting. Within 24 hours, she is cured.
