I think they are only evaporation lines if you see a VERY faint line after the maximum read time of the test.
For example, most tests say results are vaild for 3 to 10 minutes - any line that shows up after 10 minutes on that test would almost certainly be an evap line.

I saw an evap line after a few hours of the test being in the trash (I was having a manic moment) - it was very, very faint, and hadn't been there when I first looked.

ETA: From what I remember reading, the evap line will show up after the max testing time and is usually colorless (not pink or blue like the test dye). It could look gray or like a dent. HTH!
I would consider it an evap line if it was gray (not pink or blue)....I know it is considered an evap line if it shows up after 10 minutes but I have never had a line show up after 10 minutes except for one time....That one time, I came home and pulled the test out (after it was stark white that morning) HOURS later (like 6 hours later) and there was a line..a pink line. The next morning I got my BFP.
I'm not trying to get your hopes up but I also don't want you to lose hope just yet!
