Willow tree chicken salad?

SO I went to the grocery store today to try and find some lunch alternatives to lunch meat since I dont want my meat heated up I gave it up. I thought hmmm willow tree chicken salad at the deli is ok for me except I read the back of the label and it has egg yolks and we cant have raw eggs so I take it this is a no? Also, I am confused I thought mozzarella and feta cheese were a no because they were unpasterized? But when I read the label it said pasterized. Sorry for the spelling if its incorrect lol.

Re: Willow tree chicken salad?

  • I don't think they would put raw egg yolks in a chicken salad. By the way, I love Willow Tree chicken salad but I would be afraid to how long it has been sitting there and cross contamination with other stuff in the deli.?

  • Well it just said egg yolk under the ingregients for the mayonaisse. But good point about cross contamination. Man now I am reading all labels lol!
  • Most cheeses sold in the US are pasteurized. You're fine.
  • 1)  I think you are being overly paranoid about lunch meat.  But if you want to take the precaution...

    2)  Prepared chicken salad is not any better.  The eggs have nothing to do with it.  Listeria can grow in it very easily in mayonnaise based salads.  Google listeria in chicken salad and you will see a bunch of recalls.
