XP: Do cabs have carseats?

We're thinking of taking a trip this summer with DS - probably to a major city where we'd be either walking or using cabs to get around (so, not renting a car). ?So, if we have to take a cab, do cabs have carseats? ?Obviously, we'd want DS to be in a carseat (no, we're not going to pull a Brittany Spears), and lugging a seat with us to dinner across town doesn't sound like fun, so what do we do?Just one of those little details about traveling that I never thought of.....How does it work? ?Do you trust the seats the cab supplies???TIA!!!?

    In NYC, they don't. ?You might be able to find a car service (private car service, more $$$) that has cars with carseats. ?We schlep our carseat into taxis- most people here hold on lap. ?You can get around NYC very well on foot and public transit. ?

    some do.  it depends on the city.  to get one with a car seat, you'd have to book them ahead of time.

    We'll be in nyc, chicago and paris this year.  I'm planning on leaving the car seat at home and doing a lot of walking, taking the subway

    Once we figure out exactly where we're going, I guess we'll look in to different cab companies. ?Even though it's legal, I'm not down with putting DS on my lap - especially considering how come cabbies drive!!!?
