Rec. an easy hip-carry carrier/sling?

I love my Ergo, but I don't like it for a hip carry, I like leaving the buckles set for a back carry which we always use on walks and in public. But around the house, DS often wants me to hold him, but on my hip so he can see what I'm doing. Is there an easy sling or other type of carrier you'd suggest for a hip-carry for a toddler? I have a Moby which I loved for the newborn age but I'm looking for something easier that I can just throw on and put him in.

Thanks!

  • Ellaroo mei-hip. I've tried it and liked it. I use a ring sling on my hip, too. The mei-hip will be more hands-free.

  • I really liked my hotsling for the hip carry but it didn't like my back.

  • I have a homemade sling - it's just like a Peanut Shell or Hotsling. It's super easy to put on and great for an around the house hip carry. I personally still keep one hand on her so it's not hands free, but it sure makes carrying her weight a little easier. It can hurt your shoulder/back after long periods of time. And they say to alternate shoulders each time you put it on. So I guess it depends on how much time you will spend wearing your baby.

  • We're not quite at the toddler stage yet, but I really like my peanut shell for the hip carry - I'm sure the hotsling would be the same.  I didn't like it until we could do the hip carry, in fact.  Ditto pp - I don't feel 100% comfortable doing hands free with it - I use it mostly for walks/out and about.  DH likes the hip carry option on the pikkolo, but it's a tad expensive if you allready have an Ergo.
