I love to hear what people are naming their baby. Some people like to make it a surprise and that is fine...
So I just want to know:
What are you naming your baby?
What does it mean?
How did you choose it?
I will go first.
We are naming our son: Blaze Alexander
Blaze is the name of a French Saint. Plus we liked the way it sounded. We like names that not a lot of people use. I know he sounds like a Gladiator! LOL
Alexander means: Defender of the people and it is a good strong name.
We where going to go with Phoenix Parker.. but we ended up going with Blaze.
Re: What are you naming your baby?
Ivan Christopher
It means God is gracious.
It was the only boys name we could agree on.
Astrid Luna.
or
Hercules Manner.
Sofia Ann
We are still up in the air on the second name, but so far Isabella Marie
We really didn't look at the meaning of the names. We like the way Sofia sounds. And I like Isabella, however mh isn't sold yet.
What are you naming your baby? Lucas Joseph (possibly Luke for short)
What does it mean? No idea
How did you choose it? Joseph was my papa's name and we were incredibly close. That was always going to be a middle name for a boy. Lucas is a name DH and I have both loved for a couple years now.
Brayden Walker
We both loved Brayden, and Walker is a family name on my husband's side.
Carter Steven
or
Cassidy Sky
Brody Fredrick
Brody mean's "Ditch"
Fredrick mean's "Peaceful Ruler"
Definetly didn't pick the names for the meanings. Fredrick is my fathers name, and we just love the name Brody.
Neriah Margaret
Neriah means Lamp or Light of God, and Margaret is after my mom's twin who died a couple days after birth?
We chose Lainey Marie.
Lainey because we wanted something that wasn't very common, but not something that sound made up.
Marie because it's my middle name, my mom's middle name, my BF's mom's middle name, and his grandma's name so it worked out well!
Hannah Elizabeth
Hannah means grace, Elizabeth means oath of God
We basically chose the names out of the Bible, but it also worked out that my great grandmother's name was also Hannah. ?
Paige Lillian or Crispin James
Both of the first names are just ones that we liked, but Lillian is my grandmother's and great-grandmother's names (different sides). James is DH's middle name.
We are naming our LO Emma Faith. Not sure what Emma stands for, just love the name and always have. We went with Faith because we had been told we probably would not be able to have children on our own but we kept the faith (cheesy, I know)
Brendan Caleb
Brendan after my uncle who took his life when I was 7
Caleb means faithful
I love the names! I love how they are special and love how some are unique.
Evan Zachary.
I forget what Evan means....ooops. Gift from God, maybe?
We'd been leaning towards Zack, Zane and Zeke for a first name, and Evan was maybe 3rd on our list. Last Wed, we were tossing names around once again. I mentioned that Zachary was the name of my favorite kid when I was a daycare aide, and DH said "well, what about Evan Zachary?" It clicked. Bang. Done. Ok, 4 1/2 months of discussion and THEN bang done!
Ryan Hugo
Ryan is the name of DH's best friend; he has done so much for both of us and is really special to us. Plus, it's really the only name that we both agree on.
Hugo is my FIL's middle name.

Emma Carolyn
Emma means "Healer of the world"
I have loved the name Emma since I first read the Jane Austen novel in high school! We almost didn't name her that since it's been on the top 10 list for a while and is #1 right now, but I decided not to let its' popularity stop me from using it. Carolyn is after my aunt who helped raise me.
We're naming our son Evan Andrew. We picked that because we love both the names, but they also have great meaning to us.
Evan means young warrior, which is fitting because we lost a baby in January 2008 and it took us a year to conceive again. That was an emotional rollercoaster and when we realized this baby was going to "stick", it made the meaning that much more appealing to me.
Andrew is for my older brother who passed away before I was even conceived. He was 6 months old. I've always felt a connection to him though, so using his name for my son's middle seemed like a nice way to honor his memory. Plus, I just adore the name!!!
We're naming our boy "Koda James"
And Koda means friend, in one of the Native American languages.... which, from way back I have native american decent as well.... so that works for us
We got it from the movie "brother bear", which is kind of silly, but we both thought it was cute... AND he decided when we were jut 17 when it came out that he'd name his son that someday..
And James means "subplanter" which is also what my name means oddly enough (not planned) and Im not sure what subplanter means... But James was his Grandfather's name and his little brother's middle name as well.. who is 7 and its so special to him to share the middle name with Koda.
Savannah Donna
Savannah means "desert plain," I think. We chose it because I have a lot of family in the south, and DH is french...We thought it sounded southern french. We also vacationed in Savannah, GA, and thought it was beautiful. Donna is for my grandmother.
I wanted something totally unique...I wanted to name her something out of a play that no one recognizes. DH wanted something in the top 200. We printed out the top 1000 baby names of the 2000s and crossed off names day by day until we reached the top 10. Savannah just fit at that point.
Dexter Vaughn
and
Alyssa McKenna
can't recall off hand what they mean .....
these were the only names that we could agree on and we like 'em both (although we're still deciding her MN for sure ...)
ava magdalene
ava means "like a bird" - i know its popular but it fits her and even when i wanted to change it i couldn't
magdalene - "woman from magdala"...in honor of mary magdalene, the most kick ass woman in my book (and the bible lol) - my great grandmother was also named "mary magdalene" and was definitely an interesting lady
I'm sitting here reading all of the names in the responses to my DH (since we have it narrowed down to 3, but haven't decided for sure), and when I read him this one:
He said: "WOW!!! That is AWESOME! Best. Name. Ever!" Thanks a lot, Gretchen... now I'm in trouble for veto-ing Thor!
(Are you really using Hercules?)
Liliana (Lily)
Means: Lily flower. Pure. The flower lily is a symbol of innocence; purity and beauty.
It was the only girl name we both LOVED!
Madyson Kaye
DH picked out Madyson, and the spelling, and I liked it too.
Kaye was my fathers middle name who died when I was 10. Also, my older brother is a Jr. so it's his middle name too!
We are naming our son Greyson David.
I didn't know what it meant, so I went to look and it made me laugh. It literally means "son of a grey-haired man"
We just liked the way it sounded and it was really the only name we could agree on.
David is after our best friend and LO's Godfather.
Alexia Carol Anne nn"Lexi"
We love the name Lexi but I wanted something more formal. I think it means defender of man. Carol after my grandma & my cousin who died at 18, 2 years ago. Anne after many people in my life (mom, sister, godmother...)
Logan
DH was adamant it had to start with an "L" its a family tradition, it was Logan or Layton. Our friends surname is Leighton so we went with Logan, I htink it means a cove or soemthing like that. We cannot agree/decide on mn, DH wants Dalphin after his grandpa, I don't like that. I am debating between a few family names, Lawrence, Richard, Stephen.... He will probably also have 2 mn. we only plan on 2 babies so I want to honour a few people at once.
My Fiance and I are naming our daughter..... Serenity Lynn...
Serenity means peaceful
We decided to give her his last name, the middle name is from my moms side of my family.... and she makes our life peaceful and her dad and I fell in love with that name....
What are you naming your baby?
What does it mean?
How did you choose it?
We're naming him Aaron Charles
Aaron means "enlightened" and Charles means "man" or "strong" (had to look that up).
My late paternal grandfather, who I was very close to, was named Aaron. I chose the first name and left the middle to my DH (after he said he liked my pick for first name) so he chose Charles, which was also his grandfather's middle name.

Baylor Reed
Baylor because it is different and I'm a teacher so I needed a name that I didn't teach.
Reed -still not 100% on this one but it is my favorite out of the middle names.
We are naming him Abram Joshua.
Abram means "High Father"
Joshua means "God is Salvation"
We chose them because Abram is the only name that we agreed on that was "traditional yet uncommon"(this is what my husband wanted)
Joshua was chosed after a very good friend of ours who passed away.
Cameron Thomas
Our friends were joking with DH about his love for everything Boston Bruins...saying we'll probably name our son "Zdeno" or "Milan" after some of the current players.
I chimed-in and said that if I were ever to pick a name from a player, which I preferred not to do, I would only choose from retired players, since they'll always be with that team, and wouldn't ever go to another team.
Well, DH's favorite player of all-time is Cam Neely, and I happen to really like the name Cameron, so it stuck.
Thomas is DH's first name.

My BFP Chart
Nathaniel Asher
I really liked Nathaniel from one of my fav. book series, and it totally worked because we wanted to stick with DH's initials and he really liked the name too.
Nathaniel means gift of god
Asher means blessed
Marcus Emanuel
My dad passed away in September - his name was Mark. And Emanuel is for my grandfather. DH didn't really have any male names that were important to him and I wanted to honor my dad and also my grandfather since he's been having a hard time since losing my dad this year - my grandfather always jokes with people they should name their children Emanuel and was really surprised and choked up that someone took him seriously!
Evan Daniel
Evan is a form of John meaning "God is gracious"
Daniel means "God is my judge"
We chose Evan because DH and I both liked it. Daniel is the name of DH's brother who passed away 4 years ago.
DS is William Austin
William is DH and FIL's first name but they all have different middle names.
Austin is just a name I liked.
This baby will be Landon Brady.
Landon is just a name I like and Brady and my maiden name.
Baking Blog
Lucas Russell, and are calling him Luke.
We both just really like Luke, but DH wants him to have a formal name, so Lucas it is. Russell is DH's middle name, and the middle name of his grandfather who recently passed away.
Jackson Ryan (I call him Jack now)
No particular reason for Jackson but my DH's name is Ryan.
Eli Joseph
Eli we both loved & I wanted something that wasn't in the top 20. Joseph is my DH's name, my brother's name, my grandfather's name, and my dad's middle name.
