Jogging strollers. Talk to me.

I am interested in having something to jog with M in. I figure I'll work out much more often if I'm able to do it with her in tow.

However, I was hoping to only have one stroller aside from the snap-n-go (which won't last TOO much longer at the rate she's growing.) So... does the jogging stroller fold up? Is it super bulky? Am I kidding myself thinking it could be my only stroller for her? I currently exclusively wear her and plan to continue that, but figure there will be occasions where I need/want a stroller.

And, unfortunately, price is a big issue.

Re: Jogging strollers. Talk to me.

  • I wish I had checked Craigslist before I had bought mine. Depending on the week and how far that you are willing to drive, there are some darn good bargains on used ones. Think exercise equipment. People buy them thinking that they will use them a lot and if they weren't outdoor people to begin with, then they don't. So they sell them in pretty good shape for next to nothing.

But the key to getting a good used stroller is to educate yourself first.

-Go kick some tires. Test for height, ability to break it down and lift it, handling, features like hand brake, etc. After you know what you want new, you can find it used.

-Know the fair market value. That way you know if it is a better deal to buy it new or used.

-Understand if it is easy to get replacement parts. Some strollers like the Bell, Schwinn or Bob use bicycle style parts like bicycle tires and brakes and can be serviced by a bicycle shop. Where as other strollers you might want to find out how easy it is to replace things like tires if they are a solid unit.

  • Obviously, no experience yet but we got the BOB jogging stroller and other than the Snap and Go, it will be our only stroller...it really isn't much bigger than the travel systems.

It folds up but it doesn't lock closed...there is a strap you can wrap around the stroller if you want it to stay in a "locked" closed position....we haven't used that...we just pick it up and put it in the car.

It is kind of a pricey stroller though...I think someone posted a week or so ago that the Phil and Teds was on sale at Costco..not sure of the price though.

  • Our P&T's is nice. It's been our main stroller since Eve was born. It does fold up, but like the BOB doesn't lock. Once you have the hang of it though, it's pretty easy to lift in and out of the car. It is super bulky though. We acutally bought a cheapy umbrella stroller ($16 at Kmart) for when we travel. Taking the P&T's really isn't an option in our small car when we have luggage to take as well.

  • One other feature to look for that is nice is the quick release and install for the tires/rims off of the stroller so when you put it in the car, it is more compact. My Bob Ironman does that.

  • We have the City Elite stroller. It has an AMAZING collapsing machanism that I haven't seen any other stroller do. It looks like a BOB, but... well isn't. It's got a ton of storage and you can get a carseat adapter for it to place your infant carseat on it.

    I highly recommend it.

  • I am not using my Phil and Teds so if thats one you are interested in you can borrow it to se if you want that brand...They are pricy and I would hate to buy one and have JLK not like it

  • We have a BOB revolution if you want to borrow and try it out. M is not a fan so I'm debating right now whether to keep trying with it, sell it, or hope we have #2 and #2 likes it.... anyway, let me know if you want to borrow and try it out for a week or two.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE my BOB.  I don't jog with it, but I go for walks with the kids daily and it is my only stroller for Kaitlyn.  I absolutely LOVE it!  My only complaint is that the storage basket is a little on the small side.  It fits in my trunk (honda accord) better than my travel system stroller.

Is this a Dualle or a single?

  • I have both a single and double BOB and I love them! You can definitely get away with using the single BOB as your only stroller. It moves easily and folds up nicely. It is pretty light too.

  • Absolutely a single BOB can be your one and only stroller!! It folds down super compact and fits easily in stores. Yup, the storage is small but that never bothered me. I kept the BOB in the car and often wore Ty- used the jogger mostly for jogging or longer shopping trips.

The only reason we ultimately bought another stroller is because we didn't want to take the BOB out for plane travel.

LOVE the bob. Huge fan : )
