I can't quite get this down. I feel like I went from feeding 5 times a day (bottles) to feeding 7 times a day (bottles plus cereal and fruit or veg.) And he's a good eater but not a huge eater so how do I keep the solids from encroaching too much upon his formula intake. How often/when/what/how much does your LO eat on a typical day? Thanks!
Wheee!

Re: 6-7 month old feeding schedule (bottles and solids) .. help.
I make?and freeze?his food so?number of cubes is the little portions from the ice cube tray.? ?
6:30am- nurse
8:00am- breakfast 2 cubes (cereal and fruit)
10:30- nurse or 5oz
12:00- lunch 2 cubes (veggies/fruit/cereal) any combination
2:30- nurse or 5-6oz
6:30- nurse and 3 cubes (usually cereal and 2 veggie or cereal, 1 veggie and 1 fruit)
BTW, it seems like a lot of meals, but for some reason our pedi told us to start out with all three meals. (he started solids at 6 months) She said it is harder to add meals later without dropping a milk feeding. I think he does well with the three meals and he seems to be eating the same about of milk. It's hard to tell when he nurses though.
here's what we do:
9am[wakeup]6oz bottle
1030:half jar of fruit
1230:6oz bottle
330:6oz bottle
730:60z bottle
830:rice cereal [2 tablespoons] and half jar of vegetable
11pm:6oz bottle before bed
Those are just loose times but we give her 30oz of formula a day total. We just started soilds at about 6 months so she's still just 'practicing'. It does mean more feedings, but this way she still gets the right amount of formula each day and the solids are like a secondary thing since formula is still more important nutrient wise. GL! it was hard at first figuring out how to balance the two or whatever.?

We are at the way low end of milk intake b/c DD would drop the bottle altogether if I let her. On a really good day, she'll take about 18-20oz. She transitioned to formula @ 6 months, and started solids @ 4 months. She varies her solids intakes--anywhere from all that is offered (which is listed below) to about half of each.
7:15am: 6-7oz bottle
8:00am: 1 container of Yogurt and 1 jar of fruit w/ grains
11:15am: 5-6oz bottle
12:00: 1 jar of veggies and 1 jar of fruit
3:30: 6-7oz bottle
5:30: 1 jar of meat/veggie combo and 1 jar of fruit
6:45: Bedtime
7a - 6 ozs of formula
8:15a - 1 jar of fruit with 2 ozs of cereal
11a - 6 ozs of formula
3p- 6 ozs of formula
6p - 1 jar of veggies. sometimes with cereal, sometimes not.
7-7:15p - 6 ozs of formula.
Then promptly to bed.
(All times are approximate. We still do all feeds besides the 6p veggies and 7p bottle on demand. She pretty much made her own schedule)
We will start 3 meals per day, with lunch being around 12p, when she's 7 months.
This is pretty my DS schedule - to a tee.... once in awhile he'll drink alittle less than 6oz. Like today, he had two 4oz bottles & two 6oz bottles. He'll be 7 months next week and we plan on adding lunch to the mix.
I'm not sure why, but the introduction of solids didn't seem to affect LO's formula intake. ?He is almost 6 months. ?We started solids a month ago.?
6:45am - breastfeed7:30am - 2 oz veggies/fruit + 1 tsp of cereal10:30am - 9 oz formula1pm - 1 oz veggies/fruit?2pm - 9 oz formula5:30pm - 6 oz formula6p - 2 oz veggies/fruit. ?If he's tired and cranky, we skip this.7pm - 6 oz formula then bedWe are different then the rest it seems, but it works for us
7-730 5-6oz (some mixed in the creal the rest she drinks) and ceral mixed with fruit.
11:00 4-5 oz cereal mixed with fruit again
3:00 6-7 oz no food
630 1 stage one fruit and veggie
715 5-6 oz with 2 teaspoons of ceral mixed in. (i found it helps her sleep through the night and she wasn't before, only reason it's in the bottle and not fed to her).
7am - 6 oz. bottle
9am - mum-mum and 1/2 jar fruit with some cereal to thicken
11am - 6 oz. bottle
1pm - mum-mum and 1/2 jar veggie with some ceral to thicken
3pm - 6 oz. bottle
5:30 - 1/2 jar veggie + mean and 1/3 jar fruit
7pm - 6 oz. bottle
