Which bassinet did you get?

I recently decided to get a bassinet for our bedroom but wanted some recs for which ones to look at.  I'm having a boy so nothing with a lot of frilly stuff all over it.  Plus, where did you get it from, thanks.

Re: Which bassinet did you get?

  • We got an Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper. I would have preferred a larger model but our master bedroom is teeny weeny and the Mini was the only one that fit. I love it as far as I can tell, but it does not convert into a playard later, which means we also ended up getting a PNP.

  • Bassinets seem to be cheaper at Target, from what I've looked at.  I think I'm stealing my sister's though.  Her baby is a year old and doesn't need it anymore.
  • The Eddie Bauer bassinette from Target.  It got mixed reviews: something about the locking mechanism not working properly.  We put ours together and it works perfectly.  It's pretty "boyish", too.  And very nice quality with the dark wood that matches our nursery furniture.
  • We got the Enchanted Baby Fiona bassinet.  It is gorgeous.  Here's a picture (but, ours doesn't have the pink rosettes):

It was a gift from my parents.

Okay, so it's a little bit frilly/girly... Wink but he'll only be in it for a few months!  He has his whole life to be a big boy.  Wink

  • I got an Eddie Bauer bassinett from BRU. That was almost 3 years ago now and it doesn't appear it's being sold anymore
  • We're going to borrow an arm's reach co-sleeper for our bedroom and we have a pack n play with bassinet attachment for upstairs naps. I would get a pnp if I were you. They come in many non-girly styles and they will still be useful once your son outgrows the bassinet.
  • This is expensive, but I like it.

I was going to get this, but decided against it b/c we are getting a PNP too for downstairs. Ijust need something for the first 2 weeks or so while the baby is in our room (I think I will be fine after 2 weeks with baby going into her own room)

Do the co-sleepers have to extend from the bed, or can they be stand alone? I was looking at one, but dont want anything that attaches to the bed...

  • We got a moses basket and rocking stand for use in our bedroom the first few weeks.  After that I hope to transition into the crib in the baby's room.
  • We're just using our Boppy PNP, but if we bought a bassinet it would be the Fisher Price Zen Bassinet, it's gorgeous and has neat features.

Seriously I looked at alot of bassinets. Finally I went to Target online---did a search and this was the first one that popped up. It has great reviews. We got it last week---I LOVE it. It has storage, is sturdy, easy to put together and is sooooo cute. I look forward to using it with all of my children because it is gender nutral and maybe at some point we will be lucky enough to have a girl added into the mix.

We got a BabyMod rocking cradle from Walmart.  Simple, classic, not too expensive.  I really like it.
