Drop-in users: What do you mix formula with?

I have been using my medela bottles to mix formula and surely to God there has got to be an easier way, I wash them several times a day (I know it comes with the territory).

IDK..I feel like I am making this motherhood thing way harder than it should be..

Re: Drop-in users: What do you mix formula with?

  • This is one reason I didn't like the drop-ins . . . I couldn't mix easily in them. I use different bottles (Playtex Ventaires) that I mix and use. However, with the drop-ins you could premix formula for the day and store in the fridge and warm up with each feeding.

  • I mix it in the drop ins with no issue.  The oz readings are on the bags themselves.  We are in the 8oz size bottles now and the numbers are on the side of the bottle.

I find that the formula mixes great in it.  Once mixed I squeeze out the air and feed.

I just mix it in the drop in. poor the water to the right amount and dump in the formula. Screw on the top and shake. Am I missing something? The sides of the bottle have measurements for 8 oz and 10 oz liners.
  • I'll try mixing it in the liner, thank you!
  • I do the same, pour in water, add formula and shake. It doesn't get much easier than that.

Why can't you mix it in the drop-in bottle? We do all the time without any problem.

  • I thought it would make a big mess, wouldn't mix well, etc. etc.

And obviously not, lol. This will make life easier.

Same here! And don't worry about making motherhood hard. It IS hard. But, it gets easier!!! Just go with your gut and try not to over think things or get bogged down. And, we're here if you need us Smile

  • I just add hot water and shake it.  I eyeball the measurements too - so far, the baby's still alive!!

  • I guess I got spoiled to having more room in the bottle to mix . . . when I tried to use the drop-ins it wasn't nearly as easy to mix the formula in the bottle as it was with the ventaires.
  • I measure the water in an OXO measuring cup, but I dump the measured water into the bottle with the formula and shake it up to mix. I don't wash the measuring cup since it's just water going in and out, and I don't have any problems with clumping either.
