I can't decide what to save for Maite. I'm thinking she's not going to want to dress her kids up in her old clothes, however, she might enjoy seeing them as an adult.
For my son, I have a box labeled Mom's favorites. It has his coming home outfit, our favorite little tiny tiny things, things he wore a ton that we have pics of him in. I was surprised how many things didn't seem special enough to set aside -- I totally thought I'd be a horder.
her coming home outfit was DH's coming home outfit and will be used for TicTac too (I gotta find it!). So, I'm saving that. Then, I'll give it to whichever of my kids has a kid first if they want it as their coming home outfit too (scary thought!)
I am keeping the baptismal dress I had made out of my wedding dress, but again, for all family kids baptisms.
I am making a quilt out of her other "special" outfits, like her Notre Dame jersey that she wore for every game her first year and a half, the ND onesie I gave DH when I told him I was PG, and the first piece of pink clothing she got when my mom found out she was a girl and ran down to the hospital gift shop for ANYTHING pink ("if mommy says no, go ask grandma"). I'm planning on saving clothes until she is 18 and give her the quilt as a graduation gift. So, because I have so many years to save, I have to be very particular about what I keep. I'l; be keeping her "I'm a BIG sister" shirt that we'll give her when TicTac is born to. ?
I have saved pretty much everything in case we have another boy. I will give them away if we don't. Sucks though because he is one stylilsh baby and I would love to find someone that also has a stylish girl baby to possibly trade with.
I'm only keeping things that have a reason; his coming home outfit, a couple of really nice things he got a gifts, one of his tiniest preemie outfits... I'm totally waiting for the day he wants to take one of his teeny outfits in for show and tell to show how small he was! LOL
Anything of significance. Going home outfits, first halloween outfits, christening gowns, our favorite outfits on them, etc.
You'd be surprised about "old clothes". My mom brought over some stuff that I wore as a kid and I can't tell you how excited I was to have my daughter to wear. It was extra special.
I've saved everything. I can't bring myself to get rid of it now - even after we're done trying for number 2. I did pull out his coming home outfit, a couple of hats, some knit booties, his surfer outfit/hat that I loved, a few bibs and 2 of my favorite onesies. (The first one I ever bought: Milk Man)
Everything else is in boxes waiting for me to sell or give away. I just can't do it yet.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

So, what do you save? I've been saving everything I/we like.
Holiday type outfits? Yeah, those are in there
Special occasion? Those too.
We want more children so we don't know if baby #3 will be a girl so we'll see.
Currently I'm saving everything incase we have another girl.
