I got 3 shirts for my birthday in the $5 deals. I ordered a Small (the last time I bought a shirt a couple weeks ago, I needed a Medium) and they were too small.
I went to the store to do an even-exchange, and they wouldn't do it since it was on online deal! I didn't want any money - I just wanted to exchange the SAME shirt, SAME color, different size. The had a ton of them sitting on the shelf.
The only option was to return the shirts, then buy them back at the store price which was $10. That's twice as much. Insane. While I realize $5 or $10 is cheap for a shirt, it's the principal of the thing.
I probably could have done a mail return - but I didn't want to. I need shirts and didn't think that was necessary.
I emailed customer service expressing how ridiculous I think this policy is.
UGH.
Re: stupid old navy policy
Something like that happened to me with Victoria's Secret. I ordered a couple bras online, went to exchange them instore and they told me they couldn't, because they were two different stores. Now I'm stuck with sending them back and paying for shipping to send them back, just to get the correct item I want.
So frickin frustrating.
That's ridiculous!
I'm starting to hate ON!! I have a pair of maternity jeans from there and while obviously I didn't expect them to last forever, I thought they'd at least make it through a couple months of occasional wear. Nope, the maternity band part ripped away from the seam within 5 times of wearing them. I had on a maternity dress yesterday that I've worn maybe twice and only used Dryel on it once. I looked down in the middle of the day and found that the seam has frayed completely from the band going across the waist leaving a huge hole. Lovely. Again, I didn't think the items would last very long, but I've barely worn either!!
I would try going to another store to see if they'll do the even exchange. Sometimes it's the person working that makes things difficult.
Good call - I had an issue at a Banana Republic that I never go to. They wouldn't refund money on jeans that fell apart after the first wash. I took them to my "regular" BR and they gave me no hassle whatsoever.
So yeah, you're right - sometimes it's just the person.
I've returned online things to the Old Navy at Hamilton Town Center...no hassle whatsoever...
