PSA: Playtex VentAir Bottles

https://www.playtexbaby.com/Products/Bottles/VentAire.aspx

I bought two packs of these bottles before my son was born. We only opened one pack so far, and needless to say...they are crappy. I was so angry because the marking of the ounces on the front had already washed off and they had never even been in the dishwasher, and we've only used them 4 weeks.  I just returned the second set of unopened bottles to BRU last night, and the clerk told me that there was a problem with the markings staying on the BPA free bottles, and that the company told BRU that they fixed the problem with the newer bottles they sent out.

If you have these bottles, there is a little circle by the ounce marking with two numbers in it. If the circle says 08/08, you should take them back and exchange it for bottles w/ the marking 09/08 on it. The ones w/ the 09 are the newer sets of bottles and the markings will not wash off.

If you have already used / washed your bottles and they are un-returnable, you should be able to contact Playtex & they will send you a voucher for new bottles. (should take 6 weeks so you may have to buy some bottles in the meantime).

Thanks girls

  • THANK YOU soooo much for posting this.  DH and I were so pissed that our bottles did the exact same thing.  We ended up writing new markings in with permanent marker and even that comes off sometimes.  I'm sooo excited to get some replacements!!  Thank you Thank you!!

you're welcome! i was totally ticked off!!! i had the old ventair bottles from when we had DD and they are like brand new still! I couldnt believe that the stuff just peeled off like that!

  • Weird - so far we haven't had any problem with ours but I'll keep that in mind!  Personally I prefer to use our drop-ins bottles but DH for some reason thinks it's easier to clean all the extra parts on the vent-aire ones than it is to just pop a fresh liner into a holder.  I think he's nuts of course.

  • same thing happened here... but when i called and received my replacement bottles, the nipples were standard (we use slow release).  I called again and they said that's all they could send me.  I ended up taking the new ones to BRU and exchanging them for slow release nipples.  So just be aware when you receive your new ones in the mail that they might not be the nipple you wanted.

Good to know.  I just got off the phone with them.  They said they were sending replacement bottles and a voucher for new bottles that could be redeemed at BRU.  Should be here in 7-10 business days, so we will see what I get.  I also use the slow release nipples.  Did BRU give you a hard time when you exchanged them?

  • no hard time.. they were great as always :)
  • I wish me and the DH had only bought two packs.  We purchased 4 3-packs of the 6 oz. bottles and 4 3-packs of the 9 oz. bottles (I know, seems extreme now, but as a first time mom, I never knew how many I would need.)  Well, out of 24 bottles, I have about 3 left that have any numbers or markers on them for the ounces.  Every single one of the other bottles have no numbers or markings left on them at all.  We even tried the permanent marker idea where we marked our own lines and they eventually wear off.  I wrote a letter to playtex and sent in pictures.  In the meantime,  me and the DH had to purchase new bottles and went with the playtex drop ins.  Playtex sent me a new pack of three nine oz. bottles and 3 coupons for free playtex feeding products worth $7.99 a piece.  That was all I got in return for purchasing 24 totally useless bottles from them.  I will be returning the bottles they sent me and will not buy anymore VentAire bottles from them.
