Success after IF

IVF and other PIO ladies...

Today may very well have been my last PIO shot. I also remove my vivelle patches tonight. Tomorrow morning, I will have my progesterone and E2 levels drawn, and there is (according to the doc) a 90% chance I will be done with them both - hooray!!!

So... my question is this: when you went off P4 and or E2, did you notice a change in symptoms? Or really what I'm driving at is will some of the bloat go away??

Either way I will just be so happy to be done - 2cc of PIO is a lot for one rear end to handle for 8 full weeks!

Re: IVF and other PIO ladies...

  • I did PIO for a little over 8 weeks - I feel your pain!!  I developed an allergy and ended up with itchy red welts.  It sucked.  And I had sterile abscesses, so I had sore, hard lumps in my a$$ cheeks for many weeks after I stopped.  Awesome.  But it did it's job as evidenced in my siggie!  I was so busy with the lumps and the itching that I didn't notice if my bloat improved after I stopped.  I'm going to guess that it won't because it's not that your progesterone levels are really going to go down much, it's just that the placenta will deliver it in lieu of the shots.  But, here's hoping!

  • ugh that is a LOT of PIO!

I have no advice but I hope your bw is good tomorrow!

  • I was only on progesterone.  I didn't notice any change in symptoms after stopping... which was great for me since I didn't really have any symptoms to begin with!

  • First of all...that's so exciting you get to be done with them!! ?YAY!!!

I don't remember my symptoms changing exactly...maybe a little of the bloat went down because you can even kind of tell in my belly pics that by the next week I had less "belly" (which was actually bloat).

Here's hoping you get the same results!?

  • I stopped PIO and estrace at around 10 weeks, and noticed no change in symptoms (I really had none to begin with!). ?Enjoy the freedom!

  • I was on PIO and Estrace until 12 weeks, at which point I was feeling different, but it's hard to say whether it was the meds or just moving into the second tri.  My food aversions were letting up gradually, so I tend to think it wasn't the meds.

I was SO unbelievably glad to be done with those things!!!  I had a horrible time with the PIO, which I try not to talk about too much around here since most people don't have the problems I did... Don't want to freak people out unnecessarily!

Woohoo for getting to quit now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  GL with the blood draws.

  • YEA for stopping PIO!!!!! I had to switch to suppositories a few weeks back because I couldnt take the shots anymore!!

  • I didn't do PIO, but was on Endometrin until 12 weeks.  I definately saw a difference after I went off it too.  I thought the bloat went down and left me with a little bump!  I also felt better in general.  Some of my morning sickness came back, but weeks 12-14 or so were great!

    Good luck.
